The Scene is a weekly public radio show produced in Indiana that features music in performance from around the great Hoosier state. Each week, we bring listeners an hour of live music performed in local venues catered by a team of human beings who simply love music. Our goal is to promote the Indiana music scene by focusing on the music itself. We want to tell the story of the music happening in o

2020 is half way done and we would like to share 5 of the best releases from Indiana artists so far this year! There is plenty of awesome music coming out of or in association with the Hoosier state.. however, these are some of the freshest bodies of work to grace the sound waves thus far. A great beginning to the decade.

-‘Racecar Music’ by Racecar-
A refreshing stance on hazy, longing Indie Pop. Madeline Robinson, formerly of ‘Nice Try’, indulges the listener in hypnotic subtleties. Conversing about love and hopefulness. Wrapped in a lo-fi drone reminiscent of ‘The Radio Dept.’

-‘It’s a Beautiful Day in the Gulch’ by Laffing Gas-
Quick and scattered Punk. Gets you off your seat. Perhaps you’ve broken the seat you were sitting in. Into a bunch of little pieces. Don’t mess around with this record without some space to writhe around in. Justin Hatton’s drumming will send you into another dimension.

-‘Full Hand’ by Kevin Krauter-
An illustrious songwriter, Kevin Krauter continues that trend on their latest LP. With shimmering vocals and prose about self-realization and development. To nostalgic, warm and uplifting instrumentation built for a contemplative afternoon. Krauter exceeds all prior notions of what it means to write a “good for every environment” sort of record.

-‘Godspeed!’ By Sirius Blvck-
Sirius Blvck is no stranger to atmospheric and infinitely catchy production. ‘Godspeed!’ maintains Sirius’ mastery of crafting quick-cut bangers.. as well collaborating with some of the best producers you may or may not know of.. I.E. Bobby Tryll, Mathaius Young, Fylotee, etc. Sirius also showcases his own technical prowess as being one of two executive producers on the record, alongside Matt Riefler.

-‘Goodbye Boozy 7” EP by The Resource Network & Big Hog-
Two of the best Punk bands in the Midwest team up once again for another quick-fire tape. From the angular, unorthodox melodies of The Resource Network to the eccentric and frightening electronic distortion of Big Hog... this 8-minute project has a bit of everything. Perfectly customized to anyone’s taste!
