The CDC recommends getting vaccinated against influenza by the end of October. Free to low-cost flu shots are available throughout the city, and one is coming up on Thursday, Oct. 3:

Meridian Health Services invites the community to "Flu‐Lapalooza," a free one‐day flu shot clinic on Thursday, Oct. 3, from 1 to 6 p.m. or until supplies last at Meridian Health Pediatrics, 200 N. Tillotson Ave. and at the Meridian School Clinic (Southside Middle School), 1601 E. 26th St.

People ages 6 months and older can get the flu shot during "Flu‐Lapalooza." No insurance is necessary, and no out‐of‐pocket fees apply. People are not required to be a Meridian patient to obtain a flu shot at one of the participating locations. Walk‐ins are welcome.

Flu-Lapalooza is a one-day FREE flu shot clinic on Thursday, October 3, 2024, from 1 p.m. – 6 p.m. at many Meridian locations across Indiana.*

We're not mad about it.

Just disappointed, maybe.

Twice over the weekend, during the downtown festivities, the naloxbox we have at the YWCA was emptied completely with its contents scattered blocks away at the empty downtown YMCA. We also had to fix the hinge on the door of the box.

We don't mind the extra work, honestly. But please don't play around with the naloxone. It is a life-saving tool, available for free, 24/7. You may be keeping someone that is in a desperate situation, in that situation.

Be cool.

If you need something specific out of the naloxone bags, or even the bags in general, hit us up. Let us know. We'll help you out, no questions, no judgments. Just help.

“Addiction is killing our town,” said Aime Allred, a member of the Game Changers. “It is affecting more of our teens, so I feel like if we can get it into their heads like, ‘hey, we’ve done this, but look at us now, we’re not that way, there is change available. Just because somebody said that you’re not going to amount to something, doesn’t mean that you’re going to amount to nothing.’”
