“We’re conducting the draw like the agency’s popular dove field hunts and waterfowl draw hunts, except we’re giving quail hunters a little more time to apply and get ready,” Clint Johnson, Quail Program coordinator for the AGFC, said. “Applications will be open two weeks before the hunt dates and will be open for seven days. We’ll notify hunters the Monday before the hunt.”

LITTLE ROCK — Upland hunters are always looking for a new area to test their dogs’ skill and enjoy a few birds on the wing, but finding a public quail-hunting area can be challenging. Although a few good open habitats hold decent numbers of northern bobwhites, too much pressure can decimate cove...

"Riley Green is an absolute rocket ship in country music right now, and it’s incredible to see his passion for waterfowling and his commitment to conservation," said Tom Jernigan Jr., DU senior vice president of corporate relations. "Duckman Jam was an amazing success, and we’re grateful that Riley chose DU to help deliver his conservation goals alongside our partners at the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission."

NORTH LITTLE ROCK — Waterfowl hunter and country music superstar Riley Green put his money where his mouth was Nov. 22, raising $100,000 for waterfowl habitat in The Natural State at the second annual Duckman Jam concert, held at Simmons Bank Arena.

This year's kickoff arrived as consumer confidence in the U.S. economy fell this month in the aftermath of the federal government shutdown, weak hiring and stubborn inflation, according to a report The Conference Board issued Tuesday.

NEW YORK (AP) — Black Friday no longer tempts people to leave Thanksgiving tables for midnight mall runs, but the annual sales event still brings more shoppers into stores than any day of the year and rules as the U.S. retail industry's unofficial start of the holiday shopping season.

In many cases, restoration relied on trades. The exchange rates varied, but Oklahoma once swapped walleye and prairie chickens for turkeys from Arkansas and Missouri. Colorado traded mountain goats for turkeys from Idaho. The Canadian province of Ontario ended up with 274 turkeys from New York, New Jersey, Vermont, Michigan, Missouri and Iowa in exchange for moose, river otters, and partridge.

CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — No one wants a weasel on their Thanksgiving table, but swapping turkeys for other animals was once surprisingly common.

GasBuddy tracks several dozen stations, including some in Oklahoma, Colorado and Texas selling gasoline at $1.99 per gallon or less. These ultra-low prices may continue to pop up in select states in the months ahead, provided market conditions remain as favorable as they are today.

For the first time since May 2021, motorists across the nation are seeing prices fall below $3 per gallon for unleaded, regular fuel in an encouraging trend ahead of the holiday season.

The projected 8 percent reduction in Arkansas net farm income is significantly lower than the expected 41 percent increase in U.S. net farm income projected by Mizzou’s Food and Agricultural Policy Research Institute.

Arkansas net farm income is projected to decline 8 percent to $2.91 billion in 2025, however, there are some signs that 2026 might see higher soybean and corn prices and the promise of ad hoc assistance, economists said.
