The Centralia Orphans will go for their 13th straight win and school win #2400 tonight in the Championship game of the 73rd Salem Invitational Tournament against the Mt.Vernon Rams.
The Orphans squeaked by Champaign Central 56-54 Friday night in the semifinal.
The Maroons got off to a quick starting as senior Chris Bush scored 8 of the teams 14 points to lead 14-6 after the first quarter. Bush would finish with 22 points.
Centralia's Archie Goewey got the Orphans going in the 2nd quarter as Goewey scored 13 points in the quarter as the Orphans took a 26-19 lead at the half. Goewey would finish with 22 pts.
Champaign Central had a chance to win it in the final seconds but a long three from Chris Bush fell short.

It's Semifinal Night at the 73rd SIT!

The 17-3 Centralia Orphans will take on the 12-6 Champaign Central Maroons at 6:00 pm this evening inside B.E. Gum Gymnasium at Salem Community High School. The Orphans will try for the 12th straight win and a trip to the Championship game Saturday night.

The Centralia Orphans had no problems with the Effingham Flaming Hearts Wednesday night at the Salem Invitational winning 68-29.

Centralia built a 49-15 lead at the half. Effingham would outscore the Orphans in the 3Q 14-10, but it was all Centralia in the 4th as they held the Hearts scoreless.

Ten different players scored, led by Archie Goewey's 16 points. Devin Meier had 11 points, Dustyn Collins 9, Michael Organ 8, Jaxson Hancock and Kenny Bratton with 7 pts each. Kruz Jackson and Justus Edson scored 3 and two points each for Julian Martinez and Dre Hooper.

Centralia, now 17-3 and winners of 11 straight will face Champaign Central in a semifinal game Friday at 6:00 pm
The Maroons beat Carbondale 60-49 in the first game of the night.

The Centralia Orphans improved to 16-3 on the season Saturday after a 62-34 win over Sumner.
Freshman Archie Goewey led all scorers for a second straight game with 21 points.
The Orphans led throughout, Michael Organ scored 13 points, Dustyn Collins and Kenny Bratton each scored 8, Jaxon Hancock 5, Devin Meier 4 and Kruz Jackson 3.
The Orphans, now winners of 10 in a row will play Effingham Wednesday night at the 73rd Salem Invitational, tip off around 7:30.

The Centralia Orphans traveled to Charleston Tuesday night and came home on a 9 game winning streak beating the Trojans 58-32.

Centralia, now 15-3 had three players in double figures led by Archie Goewey's 20 points. Dustyn Collins scored 16, and Michael Organ 12.
Devin Meier scored 4 points, Nolan Pryor 3, Dre Hooper 2 and Kruz Jackson 1.
The JV won their game 30-26.

The Orphans will host (STL) Sumner Saturday with a 4:00 pm JV start, doors open at 3:00.

The Centralia Annies came back from 14 points down at halftime Monday night to beat Columbia 50-48 at Trout Arena.

Senior and SLU signee Jasaiyah Wallace made the game winning basket on an inbound play with 3.8 seconds left in the game to break a 48-48 tie. Wallace finished with a game high 17 points, all in the second half.

Centralia trailed 27-13 at the half before outscoring the Lady Eagles 37-21 in the second half for the win.
Sophomore Marley Edson scored 13 points, Ceci Barrow 7, Kaylee Bowdler 6 and three points each for Emrie Quick and Olivia Neudecker.

Columbia is now 13-5, as they were led in scoring by Sam Schmuke's 16 points.

The Annies are now 9-7 and will travel to Cahokia Thursday.

The Cardinals Caravan is coming back to Centralia!

Join us for the St. Louis Cardinals Caravan and benefiting The NubAbility® Athletics Foundation on Monday, January 20, 2025!

$10 General Admission - Doors Open at 4:30 p.m.

Benefiting The NubAbility® Athletics Foundation, the $10 admission tickets include general admission with a ballpark snack pack and one extra raffle ticket. Raffle tickets for Cardinal memorabilia and swag will also be available for sale on-site with proceeds to benefit The NubAbility® Athletics Foundation.

Tickets purchased to attend the Cardinals Caravan program will offer first-come, first-served seating. Doors open on Monday, January 20th (Martin Luther King Day) at 4:30 p.m. for the public symposium which will include a Q&A session, and a free Autograph Session. The first 400 children (ages 15 and under) through the door on the night of the event will receive a free Ticket for autographs from current and former players. Based on time and demand, other attendees will be allowed to follow the children for autographs.

The Centralia stop of the Caravan will include current Cardinals Iván Herrera (catcher), Victor Scott II (outfield) and Drew Rom (pitcher), along with top prospect Tink Hence (pitcher), and Cardinals alumni Jason Simontacchi (pitcher - '02-'04) and Scott Cooper (infield - '95). Polo Ascencio will be the emcee for the event.

The NubAbility® Athletics Foundation exists to encourage, inspire, and instruct limb different youth by getting them out of the stands, off the bench and into the game so they can excel confidently in sports and in life.

🏀 The Centralia Orphans won their 8th game in a row and improved to 14-3 after a 59-48 win over Mascoutah Saturday night at Trout Arena.

It was a big night for both teams shooting behind the arc as Centralia made 7 three's and Mascoutah nine.

Dustyn Collins led all scorers with 21 points, coming off a 23 point performance Tuesday night vs Highland. Michael Organ scored 14 points while making 4 three's. Archie Goewey had 9 points, Kenny Bratton and Jaxon Hancock with 6 and Devin Meier scored 2 points.

Mascoush was led in scoring by Jayden McCoo's 19 points. The Indians are now 9-5.

The Orphans will travel to Charleston Tuesday night and will host Sumner Saturday night.
