Happy Wednesday evening, Port Side customers, friends and family!

Have you noticed some changes happening around Port Side Coffee?

It is a little later than I should have done this, but here we are in the midst of the holiday season! My name is Stephanie Downey and my husband, Andy, and I bought Port Side Coffee Company from the Lances on October 16th.

We fell in love with the coffee the first time bought a bag from Kali. We found out about Port Side because I used to work as the clerk in the Owensville Post Office and I was helping Kali figure out the best ways to ship their coffee. We have drank very limited other coffees since then, almost 6 years ago.

Now, years later, I had been a stay-at-home mom/wife for about a year and a half and we were talking about purchasing a building on the square in Owensville for my baking and we had even said we would see if we could sell Port Side Coffee there. Well, then we saw the video of Kali and Jeremy saying they were going to have to part ways with Port Side to pursue their dreams. Within the first 20 some minutes we were reaching out to Kali to discuss it. And now here we are!

I started working and training with Kali the next Monday! I have been there almost every day since and I love it. I have learned a lot in the last few months, especially in the last 7 weeks!

So, a bit about us, for those who do not know. We have been married since 2012. We have our 10-year-old son, Jaxon, and our 8-year-old dog, Cinna. We live in Owensville, like the Lance family has. Andy grew up in Princeton, from the age of 13. I grew up in St. Meinrad & Santa Claus.

You will notice small changes inside the shop as we slowly make it ours over the next few months.

We will be roasting and serving the same delicious coffees you have grown to love. I have enjoyed learning this new craft and hope to continue learning more about it every day so that I can keep bringing you coffees to enjoy from around the world, and maybe start making some Port Side blends! (We do have our first half-caff on the shelves at Dewig Meats in Haubstadt!)

The baked treats! I love having a selection of treats for you to grab while you are having your coffee or tea. I am in talks with another amazing local small business owner to hopefully get to bring you some lunch and savory snack options! The treats do sometimes get low in stock, but I am focusing on making sure that I am providing you with delicious homemade items, that hopefully make you smile!

Stop in, Mon-Fri from 7:30-2 and Saturdays 7:30-noon, to buy a latte, a loose-leaf tea, coffee or tea to take home and a snack/treat. As always the website is up and running and you can still get your favorite coffee or tea shipped to you! (We are working on getting all of the website updated, as well.)

I have enjoyed meeting so many of you already and I hope to meet many more of you! Thank you for your support and patience while we are learning so many new things! Keep an eye out for changes, for events we are participating in, we are still doing fundraisers for the community and there is so much more we hope and plan to do!

We hope that our coffee shop becomes a place where you feel welcome and comfortable to sit a bit with your drink, do some work (we do have wi-fi), meet a friend, have a business meeting or any other of the reasons you would find yourself in Port Side!

Thank you, again! -The Downeys
