Thank you to everyone who joined us for Aaron Marcus's training session last week. This is a quote from his session to encourage all our talent. "No doesn't mean never. And I tell you, that's been a philosophy that I've used throughout my career. I can tell you most people that I run into, they'll talk about how they always wanted to act, they always wanted to model, they'll give you a million reasons why they can't do it now. But what it really comes down to is they just don't have the courage that you guys have. And you should be giving yourselves so much credit. For investing the time, the energy into making this happen, putting yourself out there. I think it's really incredible and I have so much respect for what you all are doing and most importantly when you're at the event forget about contracts forget about awards. Have a good time. Enjoy yourself, make connections, learn as much as you can." 🌟

MADISON ISEMAN:
Madison Iseman was born in Myrtle Beach, SC in 1997. Madison signed with CDMT Agency in the summer of 2008 and attended the expo in 2009, participating in the modeling and acting divisions.
She has since appeared on "Modern Family," Nickelodeon's "Henry Danger" and "Still the King" on CMT. She can be seen with Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart and Jack Black in the feature films "Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle" and "Jumanji: The Next Level." Her recent credits include the lead roles of Sarah Quinn in "Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween" and Rain in "Fear of Rain" starring Katherine Heigl and Harry Connick Jr. You will also see her as Vivian in Amazon's "Nocturne" and Amy in "Clouds" on Disney+.

A retired veteran of the United States Army for 30 years, living in Highland Beach, Maryland, and a graduate of Tuskegee University. Kim was the winner of the Discovery Spotlight expo in 2021.
She has since been featured in a commercial for Free Care, The Gatsby Showcase, Fashion Show: Elevated Elegance Fire & Ice-Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc, and has modeled for Vogue at Met Gala Screening.

BIG APPLE MEETS GEORGIA PEACH
New Yorker Cory and Southern belle Rebecca met in 1999 through the modeling and talent industry. Cory was running a SC based modeling and talent agency and Rebecca started working in the office. Both having worked as professional models, after being scouted at national conventions, they saw the opportunity to help other aspiring models and talent take the right steps to gain experience and launch their careers. With the competitive nature of the industry, they understand how important it is to have the right guidance, education, and contacts.
After taking their Southeastern discoveries to several conventions for networking, they decided to make use of their many connections and start a modeling and talent event that would provide exposure to the most premiere agents and producers. Cory and Rebecca married in 2006, and within the year they hosted their very first modeling and talent showcase. Since then, they have continued to discover some of the industry's top talent and guide them from beginners to stars with successful careers. Once a Southeastern event, Discovery Spotlight now includes a selective roster of international contestants and scouts. Having two children of their own, they create a family atmosphere that is educational and positive, while providing the most effective way to break into the industry.

CORY DUEGER | EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Cory grew up in Long Island, NY, where he dabbled in modeling as a child. But it wasn't until he moved to Charleston, SC, to attend the College of Charleston that he was discovered at a model search convention in Atlanta, GA.
He took a leave of absence from school to model in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Miami, Milan, Munich, Vienna and other major markets. Following his career as an international model, he returned to Charleston to complete his education, graduating with a BA in Media Communication.
In 1997, he formed his own agency and has since placed hundreds of models and talent within top agencies, casting directors and television programs. His discoveries have worked in local, national and international markets for clients like Disney, Oscar De La Renta, Ann Taylor Loft, Redken, American Girl, Nickelodeon and more. As a casting director, he has worked closely with some of the most influential directors and producers in the business.
Cory is also founder and executive director of the 501(c)(3) non-profit organization Entertainment Education Endowment, or E3 as it's more commonly known, and now volunteers his time teaching children about the industry that has treated him so well.

REBECCA DUEGER | NATIONAL DIRECTOR
Rebecca started in the entertainment industry as a model and worked in top markets, including Atlanta and Los Angeles. As a young dancer, she traveled to Bosnia to teach at performing arts camps for children. Rebecca now works to develop and market models and talent of all ages for print, high fashion, runway, TV and film.
Over the last 16 years, she has discovered and developed hundreds of top print, high fashion, and TV talent regionally and nationally. Her list of clients include Ann Taylor Loft, LL Bean, Sperry Top-Sider, Victoza Pharmaceuticals, Kiawah Island Resorts, Christophe Harbour, Sea Island Resorts, Vacation Myrtle Beach Resorts, Cottonelle, and dōTERRA.
She enjoys helping new models and talent gain confidence while perfecting their runway walks and on-stage presence. A few of the runway models she has coached have even become finalists on the CW's "America’s Next Top Model" and Oxygen's "The Face." She is a graduate of the College of Charleston and holds a BA degree in Communications. She is also a mother of two young children, which helps her to better assist and encourage families pursuing an entertainment career.

Famous Method Actors:
Perhaps the most well-known modern-day method actor is Daniel Day-Lewis. Techniques he uses to immerse himself in his roles include learning a new language, spending time in jail, and building a canoe. On the set of Martin Scorcese’s Gangs of New York, he reportedly developed hypothermia after refusing to use heating equipment on a cold day of shooting – because after all, Bill the Butcher wouldn’t have had this luxury in the mid-1800s.
Another famous method actor is Robert De Niro, who prepared for his role in Taxi Driver by taking on 12-hour shifts driving a taxi in New York City. Other famous examples of method acting include Heath Ledger locking himself in a hotel room and writing demented diary entries to prepare for this villainous role in The Dark Knight, and Leonardo DiCaprio, normally a vegetarian, eating raw bison meat on the set of The Revenant.

A student of Stanislavski, Michael Chekhov, built upon this technique by encouraging actors to express the issues the characters were facing in physical movements. The Chekhov acting technique has actors suppress this motion internally, allowing dramatic physical performances to emerge from a subconscious level.
Then, there’s the method acting technique, which was developed by Lee Strasberg in the 1930s. Building on the techniques pioneered by Stanislavski, Strasberg created an acting technique in which actors imagine themselves with the thoughts, emotions, and habits of the characters they are portraying.
To gain a better understanding of the method acting technique, you really have to study the practices of the most famous method actors throughout entertainment history.

Perhaps more well known as a punchline than thoroughly understood by television and film audiences, the method acting technique sees the actor diving into their role with absolute dedication. But to understand what sets this acting technique apart from others, it helps to learn a bit more about other acting philosophies.
The classical acting technique was developed by Konstantin Stanislavski, a Russian actor who rose to prominence in the late 19th century. His goal was to create an acting technique that was approachable by anyone and could easily be applied to a wide variety of roles. This structured approach focused on studying physical movements, vocal control, and other technical aspects of acting. He also encouraged actors to channel memories from their own experiences to try to bring out real emotions related to their characters.

Pursuing a career in modeling is an exciting move many people explore. But, how tall do you have to be to be a model? Depending on which type of modeling you’re considering, the answer can vary.
For many aspiring models, it can be easy to feel discouraged about your chances simply due to the genetic limitations of your height. Thankfully, there are more opportunities for models of all sizes, including models who are too short to qualify for the typical fashion model requirements. One of these niches is petite modeling.
