We had an absolute blast this past weekend at the Wonders in Wood Festival in Millersville, PA! It was great to see so many familiar and new faces at this year’s show. Many of which were WCI contributors (some pictured)! We also got to showcase some of the wonderful projects featured in upcoming issues of WCI and . The one on the left is comparable in size to what I’ve made most of this year. Almost completely different in look. The right side is gonna be a size I make this year as well. Glasses are a new thing and will be an option as well as some other ideas. Can’t wait for next year to be honest. These are super fun to make. Take a LITTLE more time than normal but it pays off I think. always has good tutorials on techniques. Some techniques I’ve used from their magazines, and videos and as well. If you’re new to carving check every resource you can and just carve. If you mess up make a smaller version of what you intended, something else or burn it😂. Happy Carving to all and Merry Christmas. .tools , OCCT KNIVES were all used on these two carvings.

Reminder: Join us tomorrow night for our monthly meeting.

Beginning at 6:00, Don Swartz will walk us through a Whistle Project.

Tools recommended for the whistle project: 1 to 1 1/2" knife, a flat or #3 palm gouge, approx. 1/4-3/8"

Each carver will get 2 pre-drilled basswood blanks and small dowels. Emphasis of the session will be to engineer the whistle to get sound, not to complete all carving of the final design. Don will have numerous examples that may provide some inspiration.

With the two blanks, members are encouraged to keep one and donate the other to the club for our silent auction at the show in March.
