A sweet friend and repeat client of mine is about to start chemotherapy and undergo surgery as part of her cancer treatment. 💕 Before she begins this journey, I want to help her feel beautiful, empowered, and supported with a meaningful photo session.

Once I’ve booked 12 full weddings, I’ll be closing my calendar for full wedding dates in 2025. This ensures I can give every couple the time, care, and attention they deserve—but it also means availability is limited.

How Many Batteries Does a Wedding Photographer Need for an 8-Hour Wedding Day?

When you’re shopping for a wedding photographer or stepping into the world of wedding photography yourself, there’s a lot to consider beyond the stunning images you see in portfolios. One of the most crucial (and often overlooked) factors? Batteries.

Let’s talk logistics. As a professional wedding photographer who uses two camera bodies, I bring 7 fully charged batteries with me to every wedding—and I typically use every last one of them.

Why so many? Here’s the breakdown:
✨ Non-stop Shooting: A wedding day is packed with moments—getting ready, the ceremony, portraits, candids, the reception, and everything in between. Cameras are constantly working.
✨ Battery-Draining Features: Many cameras today have power-hungry features like image stabilization, continuous autofocus, and high-resolution video recording.
✨ Dual Camera Bodies: Using two cameras doubles the need for battery power.

To make sure I’m always ready, I keep extra batteries on my person throughout the day. This allows me to make quick changes without missing a single moment. I also pack a dual battery charger and plug it in during the reception to recharge any batteries I’ve already used, so I’m fully prepared for those final magical moments of the evening.

💡 Why does this matter to you as a bride or new photographer?
Your wedding photographer should be prepared for anything. Running out of battery power is not an option—those once-in-a-lifetime moments don’t wait! A photographer who plans ahead ensures that every special moment is captured without interruption.

In 2025, I will be limiting the number of weddings I take on to a maximum of 12 for the entire year. This decision has been made to maintain a healthy work-life balance while ensuring that each of my clients continues to receive the high level of attention, care, and service that I believe they deserve.

By accepting fewer bookings, I’ll be able to fully focus on making your wedding day as unique and personal as possible, capturing every special moment with the same dedication that has always been at the heart of my work.
