This research only looks at "ad-supported" audio. It seems to counter the argument that streaming audio such as Spotify is totally taking over AM-FM. Since we're a non-commercial radio station, it would be interesting to know some stats about our category. I'm also wondering how much people use Spotify and Pandora's premium plans, which might be ad-free. What I really want to get to the bottom of the idea that "everybody" (especially young people) are only listening to steaming platforms and not using their radios (or streams of radio programs) anymore. I think that might be overplayed because radio sometimes comes in as background, already turned on, and people remember what they stream because of some sort of interaction with the platform...such as choosing songs or choosing genres.
