I used the Origami Garden pattern from Fons and Porter’s Quick + Easy Quilts magazine from summer of 2021 to make this quilt. The process involved using Y seams to assemble the block.

Finally finished this one. It’s been hanging up in my sewing room as a quilt top waiting to be quilted so long that I have forgotten the pattern name or where I found the pattern. I do know that it’s made from leftover scrap fabric from other quilt including the back. I pieced the back to “make do” with what I had leftover of the other quilt.

A sweet little quilt for an expected new arrival. This quilt is not for sale. It was a commisioned quilt. However I thought some would enjoy seeing it.

Grecian square block has the same components as the monkey wrench block. Reversing the placement of the light and dark rectangle pieces (bars) makes all the difference. This quilt is made of alternating Grecian square blocks and hourglass blocks. It measures 88 inches by 88 inches. Price is $300.00.

I bought a shoe box of 2 1/2 inch squares of mostly Christmas fabric at a rummage sale. I managed to make 5 Christmas quilts from them and fabric I already had in my stash. I gifted them to my kids on Thanksgiving so they could be used during the season and hopefully beyond. However I didn't get pictures of all of them. But here's the one that I did. The back is pieced with scraps and makes it reversable.

This sweet little baby quilt was a collaborative effort between my son Kurtis and I. He did the machine quilting on the longarm after I made the quilt top. It was given to one of his former classmates who had a little girl a few months ago.

Here's a sweet little customer quilt. It uses thirties reproduction fabrics and the quilt pattern is called Spin City from Fons and Porter's Scrappy Fat Quarter Quilts magazine. It just says Springtime to me. Thank you Sharon for letting me do this for you!

Still haven't made a dent in the blue scrap bin after making this Twinkling Stars quilt which measures 88 inches by 88 inches. I'll keep working on it. It is a stark white background. The setting sun made it look a bit cream in color.

Merry Christmas everyone! I made this Christmas quilt using a pattern from a thrifted quilt book from a resale shop. The book is Preserving History by Julie Hendrickson. The original pattern called Reproduction Chain uses 2 inch squares but I wanted to use a shoebox full of 2 1/2 inch squares that I purchased from a yard sale last summer. I did add more fabrics from my stash for variety. I ended up with enough blocks to make two twin sized quilts and about 1/2 the shoebox of squares left to make another.

A customer requested that I make a quilt using Crown Royal bags. Never having done one before, I did some web surfing and found some very good tutorials and advice. The bags are made from fabric that does fray easily so I thought it best to zigzag every seam. It was a learning experience for me. I think it turned out pretty good.

Leftovers! When you end up with a lot of leftovers or "waste triangles" as they are called in the quilting world, you try to use them. Fabric is expensive and we all know it's not getting any cheaper so who wants to waste it?
This quilt was made using the waste triangles from a quilt that I previously posted plus a few more to make it queen size. I really like the way it looks almost like circles from a distance. Fortunely I found a purchaser quickly. I was very tempted to keep for myself.

I apologize for the poor quality photo. Even filters couldn't help me out on this one. Now that this quilt has gone to it's forever home in California I can write a post about it. This queen sized quilt was made using the double arrowhead block. Although the deep purple "arrows" appear to be the sashings outside of the block, it is actually the center of them. The arrows were made using flying geese units. Thank you for your purchase Dwain!

Even though I haven't posted in a while, I have been busy quilting. This twin sized quilt was a custom order and collaboration. Using her fabrics and the design she picked out, I pieced the the Split 4 patch blocks and inner border. She then did the remaining borders and had me do the quilting and binding. I just loved the Lori Holt fabric she used which is like the feedsack fabric from the 1930's. It was a pleasure to do. Thank you Sharon!

Another baby quilt completed and gifted. This time the parents want to be surprised about the baby's gender so I went old school with the color scheme and chose a green frog print fabric. I used a new quilting pantograph design called puddles which really paired well with the frog theme.
