Berwick officers and first responders are on the scene of a two-vehicle crash on US Hwy. 90 East at Thurguson Road with possible injuries reported.

The left lane is shut down to traffic from the intersection and past the Berwick exit (on the overpass).

UPDATE 11:38 PM:
Bicyclist sustained serious injuries. Subject will subsequently be transported by Airmed following ground transportation to a local medical facility. Roadway is still closed to traffic.

A crash, reported shortly before 11:00 PM Saturday, involving a vehicle and a pedestrian on a bike on LA 182 at the intersection near Pattie Drive is closed to traffic in both eastbound and westbound lanes in Berwick. Injuries reported; however, extent of injuries is unknown.

The Franklin Police Department is asking for assistance in locating Cordell Johnson, Jr. in reference to a shooting that occurred on December 10, 2024, in the area of Lee Charles Street. Johnson is wanted for attempted second degree murder – 2 counts, illegal use of weapons or dangerous instrumentalities, aggravated criminal damage to property, possession of a firearm by a person convicted of certain felonies, and illegal possession of stolen fi****ms.

If anyone has any information on the whereabouts of Cordell Johnson, Jr., please contact the Franklin Police Department at (337) 828-1716. You may remain anonymous.

It is with heavy hearts that the KWBJ TV family acknowledges the passing of Traci Tierney Ponder following a prolonged illness. A native of Morgan City and graduate of Berwick High School, Traci Tierney came to work with KWBJ as a Master Control Operator in August, 1997. She soon advanced to production duties, and later moved in front of the camera as a news reporter, eventually being promoted to News Director and lead news anchor of KWBJ News. She left to pursue a career in law enforcement media relations, working for the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office before moving to Bossier City. Traci is survived by her husband Jonathan Ponder, and daughters Valentine, age 9, and Hannah, age 3. Traci was a joy to work with, and she has been, and always will be, profoundly missed. Below are clips from her final newscast with KWBJ, dated June 29, 2012.
