Y vendrá el rápido derrumbe físico del gran artista que lanzará su más alto acento metafísico en "Lo Fatal", donde se observa un gran cambio: junto a lo pagano o lo erótico, aparecen tonos graves, inquietud, amargura.

In this book, the subject is diversified more and becomes more serious. He is no longer the Frenchman of Versailles life, he is no longer the Parisian of refined pleasures. Now he tackles the Spanish issue. He returns for the privileges of the race and sings to the Spain of the golden age, the classical and imperial, not the decadent of his time. He always loved splendor, purple, gold and ermine, and is inspired by the Spain of the Felipes, great and colorful. Darío shows a preference for the American theme, but his work has a lot of occasional poetry, like his Salutación al Águila. And the rapid physical collapse of the great artist will come, who will launch his highest metaphysical accent in "Lo Fatal", where a great change is observed: next to the pagan or the erotic, serious tones, restlessness, bitterness appear.
