The birds outgrew their brooder, so this weekend, we upgraded everyone to new set-ups. We haven't had ducks and turkeys for a few years, which meant constructing new enclosures for them.
We like to save money and repurpose things when we can, so rather than buy all new enclosures and shelters, we went on a scavenger hunt around the property. For the outdoor runs, we gave the chicken run to the ducks and used kennel pieces from my dog breeding days to make one for the turkeys as well as a nice big new run for the chickens. The chicken coop is already established. The turkeys are using the house Jacob and Ryan built many many years ago. We repurposed an old kiddie playhouse for the ducks.

Feeders - This is my absolute favorite feeder! I love how easy it is to fill with the lid staying attched:

Duck Waterer - The ducks tend to like to go swimming in their water dishes so I use this duck waterer to prevent the muddy mess:

Chicken Waterer - For the chickens, I prefer something bigger and I love this chicken waterer because it can be filled from the top. No more flipping water jugs! :

Water storage - Now that the coops are quite a bit further from the house than they once were, rather than dragging out a hose or hauling buckets of water from the house, a stock tank makes chores so much easier:

Feed Storage - Depending on how much feed we stock up on at a time, we have to be careful of other critters getting into it. I like these simple feed storage buckets:

Coop Maintenance - I like to sprinkle a little lime in the coop this time of year to help deodorizer, keep pests away and keep algae from building when we're in a rainy season (like now). Here's one of my favorite brands:

In today's blog post, I dig into why daily tasks are critical for your child's development and growth. Link in comments to the blog post with a free chore chart downloadπ
Have you tried kombucha yet? This fizzy, tangy, and slightly sweet drink has been gaining popularity among health enthusiasts for its probiotic properties and gut-boosting benefits. It is a fermented drink made from tea, sugar, water, and a SCOBY (symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast) that acts as a starter culture. Making kombucha at home is not only easy and fun, but also a cost-effective way to enjoy this trendy drink without breaking your budget. In this guide, I go through the step-by-step process of making your own kombucha at home in this blog post:
