Quiltfest-Day 17-Quilts of significance. This is one of my favorite. I love making quilts with solid fabrics on occasion. This quilt was published in McCall's Quilting magazine several times. The first time was as a mystery quilt called "Make it Your Way". I named it Shenanigans, which I guess, makes it a good choice for today. It was eventually purchased by a dear friend as a wedding gift for one of her sons.

Who is ready for Christmas....I'm not! It's been awhile since I've posted anything due to being down with my back, and eventually surgery. I'm healing, but it's been a long road. As we get older we realize we must take care of ourselves. I hope by January I am ready to be normal again and rejoin the world of quilters. I've missed YOU friends.

Good morning quilting friends. Yesterday I stopped by our local grocery store and the older gentleman in front of me was holding up our check-out line. I noticed when it came time to pay he was taking items out of his bags and the gal was deleting them from his total. Afterwards I asked her did he not have enough money, and her comment was no. I asked her to add those items to my tab and to please go after him and give him the items. It broke my heart to see this precious man putting back food he could not afford, and I thought, you know, this could be me someday. When I left the store he was waiting for me and he continued to thank me. Apparently she told him I purchased the few items for him. I also noticed he fought in the war for us. Well, I thanked him for his service and left. I thought about this all afternoon, but I felt good about myself that I was able to help this man. So, pass it along friends, and do something special today for someone in need. It will make your day. A little act of kindness goes a long way.

Tracy is using Gauze for her backing. I love this look. Anybody else use gauze for your quilt backs?? I will definitely try this.

I have to admit that out of all the Crumb Quilts I've seen, I think this technique using Fat Quarters is the best one ever.

We are so proud of Candace for being selected to be featured with Alex and Ricky. If you've ever seen Candace's quilts, you will understand why she is being featured. The girl has talent! Also, we get together once a month and sit and sew in Porterdale with Candace.. If interested, let us know.

Anybody else purchase vintage quilts? I do, and I remember one of my best finds....hanging in a tree at a yard sale for $5.00. It's my picnic blanket and I just love it.

Candace has us scheduled again for our monthly get together. We would love to have you join us in Porterdale. Come on out and bring a lunch and a project to work on. Love learning from each other.

I am so looking forward to seeing what everyone brings to work on at our monthly Quilters Meetup at the Porterdale gym at 10 tomorrow! It is always so much fun!

It's amazing to me how Beth always comes up with unique designs using found or donated blocks, etc. Recently I purchased a bag of small blocks and pieces for $2.00 at a quilt retreat. Guess the quilter decided she no longer had interest. We've all been there. A few days ago I thought to myself...why in the world did you buy this? Thanks Beth for the inspiration.

This is on my "to do" list of things to make. I've always loved the Vintage Handkerchief quilts. I am still searching for more hankies. I think 20 is a good size to work with. Anybody know any local stores I can search. Seems they are getting limited or people are just handing on to them.
