Hi, Pete Temple here. As promised in my Pete’s Picks column in the Express, I’m putting my NFL against-the-spread picks on Facebook ahead of the game days so nobody thinks I’m cheating. Early deadlines due to the holidays necessitated this.
Over the weekend, I split the two games I bet on, returning $1.87 on my $2 bet. With two weeks left, I have clinched a winning, 18-week season. I am $4.25 ahead, and the worst I could do, at $1 per game for two weeks, is finish ahead by 25 cents.
My season record is now 18-12-2.
Here are my Week 17 picks:

Seattle -3.5 at Chicago (Thu.)
New Orleans -1.5 vs. Las Vegas

It's a four-bagger of home basketball games for Monticello tonight against Beckman Catholic of Dyersville. The first one just ended; the Monti JV girls defeated Beckman 28-26.

Big basketball night, as Cascade is in town for a girl-boy doubleheader. Varsity girls will tip off in about 10 minutes, and you have a few choices. Diane Ernst Temple will be streaming the games on her page. KDST Radio 99.3 is here. Or, you can follow this thread for updates on the girls; same for the boys on a new thread. Anyone else who says they are streaming the games is trying to scam you.

Just a friendly reminder, kiddos have until next Monday, Dec. 16, to get their letters to Santa into the Express!! Don't be late!!

🎅There is still time to get your kiddos' letters to Santa in the Monticello Express!

📬Deadline for publication is Dec. 16. From there, we will forward those letters onto the North Pole!

📜Letters can also be brought to Shannon, Carpenter & Sacred Heart elementary schools.
