This Friday, around noon, several runners made their way around the Monticello Courthouse circle on their way from Tallahassee to Jacksonville in honor of veterans, in an annual marathon called Run For The Fallen. At designated mile markers, a proclamation and honorary ceremony is performed to honor specific veterans, and respect to family and loves ones present is given.
Thank you so much to those who came out to honor our veterans and recognize the efforts of the runners who run in their memory!

Today, the community of Jefferson County said a somber farewell to Stephen Walker, a gentle and caring man who was loved, known and cherished by many. As the community as a whole mourns his sudden passing, we remember his years of service, his smile, his positive spirit. This morning, Stephen Walker took his last circle around the Courthouse of this town he loved, his hometown, the place he grew up and called home, and where he spent the last 12+ years serving the people of this remarkable county.
