Haven't heard anyone on the Williamsport 29.660 since the spring time. I have had the CTCSS tone on, but it does announce it at the top and bottom of the hour. Yesterday afternoon NZ9N from Las Vegas was on mid-afternoon (Eastern) when I later listened to the audio archives. He made several calls, but no one must have been around to come back to him.

In case you haven't tried the 10 meter side or been on the kb3awq system. The receiver is working well now. The ice 432 band pass filter on the 6 meter side took care of the issues. Give it a try. Openings daily ever since including DX

The system is setup on the TGIF DMR network on Time slot 2 Talkgroup 29660 under 3175335.

An update. Tuesday, the receiver seemed to have went deaf. With a visit yesterday, I started with the process of elimination. Could it be the receiver, the bandpass filter ICE 431, the coax stub or did something happen to the feedline or antenna? Within minutes, I found that the removal of the 10 m preselector made the receiver come to life. After some tests on the mountain from the ht, I was impressed. Leaving the mountain, I have the mobile in scan and heard a guy i Fresno, CA that starte talking to a guy in Tokyo and they were both decent signals. I really wanted to work Tokyo but heard nothing after that with the exception of a few weak signals on 29.5 and some repeater pairs. Oh well, back to the story. So we stopped to get something to eat and then went on a small road trip to the Hughesville, PA area and found that reception was much better down there than its ever been as the coverage map does show it to be a weaker area. So not saying everything is perfect but things are looking pretty decent at the moment. Its seems with each visit things get better, the amateur spirt right? It appears the biggest issue was the desense that the UHF repeater was causing which I still don't know how 444 MHz was desensing 29 MHz. Anyway, try it, post about it, send a message or signal report on here or repeaterbook on the map or [email protected] 73 for now.

Surprisingly the tests done over the weekend have showed the Antron 99 to be worse than the DB-212 so we are now back on the DB-212 for the receive antenna.

Thanks to w7fdx. Yesterday we decided to throw the Antron 99 on top of the windmill tower right above the db-212. So far ht results have been the same but have not tested mobile yet. May be a bit more Omni directional for receiving now. Had the antenna and stuff to do it so figured would give it a try. If the Antron don't hold up or work at least as good, can always switch back to the db212. Give it a try to see and let me know. KB3AWQ

29.660 is relinked in to the rest of the system again. I added a shorted halfwave UHF coax stub in and also took the preamp out and tested with the tx on and off and there was no difference in weak signal that I could tell so it appears the desense on 10 has been taken care of. What is weird was how the 440 repeater was causing it on 29 MHz.

It appears the 444.900 at least is what has been making the 10 meter receive radio not as good. They are unlinked for now so 29.66 is standalone for now. Plan on trying some things tomorrow that may help but will have to see. It hears pretty good when 440 isn't transmitting.

This morning I added a preselector from an old Mastr II to the receive radio (29.560) of the repeater. It is hearing better than it was but will have to try it out more and see how much better. There may even be another trick or two eventually. Give it a try!

The DMR bridge on the system is now on demand and by contacting KB3AWQ for further info.

Have been heaing some activity on the 29.66 Williamsport repeater this past week or two. Colorado, Wyoming and Nevada that I remember which 2 of the states have been the same guys several days. if you dont have 29.66 capabilities, tune to 444.900 or 147.300 in the Williamsport area and talk to them from there, you can also use 52.490 also.

The 29.560 receiver for 29.660 is now working again with PL and the PL is active now also but can be remotely turned off with some occasional noise bursts but the plan is to now leave it on. The squelch is now able to be more loose as well. Give it a try! PL 173.8

The 29.560 receiver is offline while checking to see why the PL isnt working.

I changed 29.640 to 29.660 for the Williamsport repeater yesterday. It seemed to be a quieter frequency at the tower site for receiving.

If you hear "user blocked" on the repeater, the reason is described here. https://confluence.brandmeister.network/display/BRAN/Voice+message+User+blocked I have a DMR bridge setup connected to the Timeslot 2 talkgroup 314230 which is the local 443.050 DMR repeater so this allows the local for 443.050 DMR, 444.900, 147.300, 29.640 and eventual 52.490 to connect from Analog to that talkgroup and vice versa.

Just got assigned a Hamshack Hotline RF link number. If you call 94105 you will connect to the HUB I have on Allstarlink Node # 513963 which of course is connect to 444.900. 147.300 and 29.640 and anything else that links in. From there you enter *99 to transmit/talk and enter # to unkey.

December 19, 2021 I got a Hamshack Hotline. My number is 6100000289

UPDATE: A few weeks ago I was able to get a 6110-1 and installed it as the transmitter. I turned that down to 25 watts also. We have had some openings in the last couple weeks again. The stations heard I believe were using another repeater on 29.64, quite possible the Shedden Canada repeater.

The 29.640 transmitter was replaced with another 6110 on Mon. Nov 29th. So instead of 70 watts, I turned this one down to 25 watts and added a second fan. Not sure what the issue may have been but is the second 6110 radio it has happened to. Does anyone have any Kenwood TK-6110-1 radios? These are the -2 that I software modded to do 6 and 10, not sure if this has anything to do with or not.

Heard WB8VLC in Oregon coming in on the Williamsport, PA 29.640 repeater yesterday afternoon with a good signal. I have the audio clip from broadcastify.com

I recently was able to get the Allstar DMR bridge working on the system. The last few days I have been using the Talkgroup of the Bridge which is 3175335. Last night I changed it to 314230 (group call - not private call) which is the KB3HLL DMR 443.050 repeater DMR id and Talkgroup to come out of the repeater if you use Time Slot 2 on your radio.

This also allows the Monday night DMR net at 8 PM on 314230 to also be on analog on 444.900, 147.300 and 29.640. The difference will be analog on those frequencies but it will sound like DMR audio. Give it a try and any questions let me know.
