Brand new single from !

We recorded the music for this album about a year ago. Pretty wild to think about. One of the biggest things we both wanted was it to sound like us. For me, Tiny Tree has been my musical “find my voice” band—and this really feels like me. I love how our live shows are—a mix of jams and songs, so we both were in agreement that we should do our record that way. Drums, guitar, bass, all recorded live in the same room.

Something cool, we actually recorded what will be Side A in one complete take. Our first stab at it was 25ish minutes, so we set up a stop watch on our phone to fit it in 22 minutes.

I struggled to find the words to accompany the album. I had melodies and some phrases I had been singing live, but when I put them down, they all felt out of place and phoned in. Life came through and I now had a heavy heart to pour into words and melody. It’s funny, it feels like the music and lyrics were written at the same time!

Copping A Mouse is the beginning of my journey, coming to grips with the end of a major relationship and the feelings of moving forward.

I’m excited to share what and I have been working on. We are both really proud of this.

4 years and 2 months.

I have recorded in so many locations over the years, but this was the first space I could make my own.

The first thing I did here was finish writing and mixing ‘Embolism’. That record was deeply personal for me and I needed to finish it in private before sharing it with and eventually, the world.

Covid came about and Tara and I gutted our 120 year old house basement to turn into a tracking room. We looked at each other like “what the f..k are we doing” as demo began. I built that room based on experiences and aesthetics I’ve worked in, during my nomad recording years. I knew the sound I wanted, and I got it. Any record out of here starting July 2020, you’ve heard that room.

My record producing is not stopping, don’t worry! I will be working out of Cold War Studio in GR until I find my next space.

Thank you to every band, artist, tag along, that has come into my home and let me make your record.
