My sister and I love to garden, both flowers and vegetables. It’s a passion and trait we got from our grandmother. Growing up at Grandma and Grandpa’s the summers were filled with working in the half-acre vegetable garden and

Last weekend we took the opportunity to visit one of Indiana’s numerous, beautiful, large lakes and reservoirs. We drove over to Brookville Reservoir near the Ohio state line to spend the day on the lake.

Fog must be at the top of my favorite list of all atmospheric conditions. It is that unique combination of temperature differences between the ground and air and the presence of moisture that creates

February in the Midwest is definitely the “ugliest” time of year and my least favorite. Here in Indiana it tends to be snowless, cold, and brown generally. It is the time of year when I yearn for the greening of spring,

So, I’ve been busy canning lately. What? It’s the wrong time of the year! Yeah, yeah, I know late winter is not the time most people think of canning. However, I had things in the freezer taking up unnecessary room that were past their prime. Now they weren’t “bad” just not that great in a...

Growing up, it seemed as if every few weeks, there was a family get-together, church pitch-in, or a rowdy card night of euchre. One of the predominant dishes Grandma would make was her famous meatballs.
