Homicide Investigation – Richland Parish

This morning at approximately 3:40 a.m., the Richland Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a 9-1-1 call at 1677 Highway 583.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered Michael Shannon Chriceol (DOB: 04/19/1969) deceased from a gunshot wound.

This incident appears to be an isolated event, and there is no indication of an ongoing threat to the public at this time. The investigation is active, and deputies are continuing to gather information.

Out of respect for the integrity of the investigation and those involved, no further details will be released at this time. Additional information will be provided as it becomes available.

We appreciate the community’s cooperation and ask anyone with information related to this incident to contact the Richland Parish Sheriff’s Office.

The Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office is asking for your help locating Katanna Taylor.

17-year-old Katanna Taylor is described as 5’6” and 118 lbs. Taylor is missing from 120 Canterberry in Monroe, and has been known to be in the Garden Lane and Swartz Fairbanks area.

OPSO Arrests West Monroe Man on Multiple Narcotics Charges Following S**T/METRO Investigation

(Ouachita Parish) - Deputies with the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office Special Crimes Apprehension Team (S**T) and METRO Narcotics arrested a West Monroe man on multiple felony narcotics charges following an investigation into drug distribution.

Tuesday, January 6th, OPSO S**T/METRO received information regarding the distribution of he**in and fentanyl at a residence located in the 100 block of Norris Lane in West Monroe, where Deputies made contact with Jeromy Daniel Ambrose.
Subsequent investigations revealed that Ambrose was in possession of:
• Distribution/Possession with Intent to Manufacture or Distribute a Schedule I Narcotic (Kratom)
• Possession with Intent to Distribute or Manufacture a Schedule II CDS (Fentanyl)
• Distribution/Possession with Intent to Manufacture or Distribute a Schedule I Narcotic (He**in)
• Possession of a Schedule IV CDS (Temazepam)
• Possession of a Schedule III CDS (Testosterone)
• Possession of a Schedule I CDS (Ma*****na)

Ambrose was transported and booked at the Ouachita Correctional Center.

Suspicious Person Complaint Leads to Arrests in Vehicle Burglaries

On January 3, 2026, at approximately 8:45 p.m., officers with the Ruston Police Department responded to a call in the 2700 block of Kavanaugh Street regarding suspicious activity. Dispatch advised that the caller observed two males wearing hooded sweatshirts standing next to their vehicle.

When officers arrived on scene, an officer observed two males fleeing the area on foot. Officers established a perimeter and were able to locate one suspect, identified as nineteen-year-old Zackevius Hunter of Ruston.

While searching for additional suspects, an officer observed a vehicle behaving suspiciously in the area. Officers conducted a traffic stop and identified the occupants as twenty-four-year-old Fabian Crawford of Ruston and eighteen-year-old Kemondrick Hunter of Ruston. Further investigation determined the vehicle was connected to multiple vehicle burglaries.

A search of the vehicle resulted in the recovery of a stolen firearm, which was later confirmed to be taken during other vehicle burglaries that occurred earlier in December.

Zackevius Hunter, Kemondrick Hunter, and Fabian Crawford were transported to the Lincoln Parish Detention Center and booked on the following charges:

· Zackevius Hunter: Attempted Vehicle Burglary, Illegal Possession of Stolen Things, Possession of Ma*****na, Possession of a Firearm in the Presence of Ma*****na, and Introduction of Contraband

· Kemondrick Hunter: Attempted Vehicle Burglary and Resisting an Officer

· Fabian Crawford: Attempted Vehicle Burglary, Illegal Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Possession of Ma*****na, and Possession of a Firearm in the Presence of Ma*****na

The investigation into these vehicle burglaries, as well as others, is ongoing. Additional charges and arrests may be forthcoming.

LDWF has confirmed 𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗰 𝗪𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 (𝗖𝗪𝗗) in a 𝗵𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿-𝗵𝗮𝗿𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲-𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘂𝗰𝗸 from 𝗥𝗶𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗞. 𝗬𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘆 𝗪𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗔𝗿𝗲𝗮. This marks the 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗱𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗪𝗗 𝗶𝗻 𝗮 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗱𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗮 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗵 and brings Louisiana’s total confirmed cases to 𝟰𝟵 since the disease was first detected in the state in 2022.

▪ Due to this detection during deer season, hunters are 𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝘂𝗯𝗺𝗶𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝗿𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗱𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗖𝗪𝗗 𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴.
