conveniently located in Monroe, Georgia (30 miles from downtown Athens and 41 miles from downtown Atlanta.) 3 tuned rooms, including a fully acoustically treated live room that features a 17 foot ceiling. A custom built control room that is room mode calculated to one of the highest regarded ratios in the industry. After 30 years of experience in songwriting and recording, Rob has a method to help

bring out the best of an artist. Rob believes in working with artists directly, starting at the song. He has helped dozens of artists with everything from ghost writing, arranging, chord substitutions, melodic options, all the way up to full co-writing. Rob can then record, edit, mix and even master the songs all in house. He has played guitar and bass on countless recordings and makes most of his equipment available to the artist for no additional charge. Root Cellar’s in-house equipment includes vintage guitar amplifiers, bass amplifiers, guitar effects, keyboards, and an array of guitar and bass cabinets. What are the benefits of recording in Root Cellar’s Tuned rooms? Recording in a tuned room eliminates troublesome acoustic artifacts like comb filtering, standing waves, flutter and undesirable room reverb. These are some of the hardest things to correct in the mixing and mastering process. When recording in a tuned room you will be amazed how good things sound even before mixing. Hey everybody who supports and or follows Root Cellar Music Studio on Facebook. I am rebranding as Record Producer Rob. I want to make it easier for bands and artists to find me and to encourage them to reach out to me to produce their projects. I will continue to refer to our purpose built, full production audio and video home studio as "Root Cellar Music Studio" but I will be taking down the Root Cellar Music Studio page in the near future. New 20 x 12 kick drum by Beverley drum company. (thank you Lee Flier)This company has a long history in shipbuilding (see the map for their location in England) and a professional partnership with Premier drums (Though they were separate entities sharing some hardware) until in the 80's when as I understand it Premier exported Beverley drums with a Premier badge on them. Lot's of history here that I am only scraping the surface. This one is believed to be a late 60's model. I'm looking forward to consulting with Scott Buck and Larry Blewitt for some wisdom on how to pick the right heads so it can be used as an Auxiliary instrument on songs but can also be used as a kick drum if needed. I have a collection of mallets that should sound very good on this drum. Her name is Blueberry Swirl.

This weekend was the debut of the Dr. Alien Alien8 microphone on the kick here at Root Cellar Music Studio. This mic has amazing potential and is very versatile. I'll make a proper demo in the coming weeks. I plan to use it on bass guitar cabs and even give a go on some guitar cabs. I am currently running 4 mics on the kick. Inside: AKG D112, Shure Beta 91a, Outside: Solomon LoFReQ, Dr Alien Smith Alien8.

My wife Laura Kuhlman is very particular about what goes on our fridge so naturally I tested the magnets to see if I could get a YIKES from her when she saw it. Yep it worked LMAO.

This is why artist trust me. I put new strings on and set intonation on these 3 guitars that the artist GO GO Boy would be using all week. All my guitars are available for making records and they are all record ready making traveling very easy for artist who might fly with 1 or 2 guitars and rely on me to suggest the rest needed to make their songs sound their best.

I had a great trip to Earthshaking Music. Joel was an excellent host and a well of drum / percussion knowledge. He helped me pick out a be**er that he personally uses for more aggressive punk/ hard rock style kick to add to my other 5 choices I offer to drummer recording with me. I also found a great tambourine at less than $20 that fits into our already extensive collection of tambourines. best of all my wife took to it immediately. Joel, Charlie and Eric it was pleasure meeting you all and I will be a regular customer from here on. Check them out if you haven't already folks. This store is the kind of heartbeat a music scene needs to survive.

Back in the saddle with this beautiful microphone. The EV-320 here at Root Cellar Music Studio had been out of commission until this week Chris and Steph over at Pro Video Plus on Club Dr. in Lawrenceville GA got it back to factory specs. This mic was used on kick for Michael Jacksons thriller LP among many other hit songs. I love it on guitar cabs for punch and clarity usually teamed up with a Sennheiser 421 or Shure 57. It's also fantastic on male vocals and is the most recorded microphone in the world for movie trailers voice overs, audio books etc and tone of the op 2 mics for podcasting and live interviews, on air voice talent.

Our custom designed control room is the perfect place to overdub your tracks, make critical edits, explore creative options and of course get your projects mixed and mastered. Root Cellar’s in-house equipment includes vintage guitar amplifiers, bass amplifiers, guitar effects, keyboards, a vintage Wurlitzer, guitar and bass cabinets. Guitars and basses are also available to record with for a small fee. What are the benefits of recording, mixing and mastering in Root Cellar’s control room? A huge reflection free zone ( 96 sq. feet of clouds) and numerous acoustic devices including QRD and Binary amplitude arc difussers compliment bass traps, broadband absorbers and standard Binary amplitude abfusers.
