The statewide road salt shortage, has prompted towns like Canandaigua and Victor to seek supplies from Apalachee Salt, an Albany- and Rochester-based company.

The Town of Marcy is currently having a salt shortage, and has a limited supply left for the rest of the winter.

The little village of Copenhagen in Upstate New York has done it again: It’s the snowiest populated place in the United States this year.

Copenhagen – in the town of Denmark, no less – sits in western Lewis County, downwind of Lake Ontario. So far this season, 257 inches of snow has fallen there. That’s the height of a two-story building.
