Your Hometown Newspaper

The North Jackson Press (NJP) came into existence after North Jackson Progress (Progress) closed, leaving the towns of Stevenson and Bridgeport without newspaper coverage. Officials from those towns contacted the owners of Mountain Valley News located at 450 Main Street West in Rainsville, with the proposition of buying and re-opening the Progress. Finances and logistics made a buy-out impossible, but after much prayer and awesome cooperation from town officials, the decision was made to start a new newspaper for that area. The six-person staff created the inaugural edition of the NJP on February 8, 2019, under the ownership of Arlan “Monk” and Sherri Blevins. A branch office is located at 42950 Highway 72 Suite 406 in Stevenson.
