TUESDAY TIP:
Know your types and roles you can play so you can submit to the correct character roles to score the audition.
I can't imagine how many submissions CD's get sent to them from a new actor that is nothing like the character description. Or when an actor submits to many roles in the same breakdown because they think they can play everything. (newbie mistake)
A trained working actor familiar to CD can flip the director on character descriptions, but if you're resume doesn't have anything on it but small indie films no one has heard of then I don't suggest submitting on every role you see that is the same gender and age you are.
For one thing, I think you should submit within the age range they give. 2-5 years outside of your real age is acceptable-but most actors don't look 10 years younger than their real age. 😜
It seems logical to me that doctors and lawyers on tv don't look like bikers, and 55 year olds can't play new moms, but hey, that's just a suggestion.
You're acting skills in typing is EVERYTHING-your voice, your tone, your personality, your range.
Also different roles require a large resume, special skills, and a background in acting training for several years to pull the role off-
This is why You're acting coach or agent can help you with this, you need someone that knows you, sees you and has seen your auditions or work to give you the best opportunity to GET (first win) the audition and get a check avail, callback of booking.
