TUESDAY TIP: (repeat)
The NAME of your acting coach on your resume should be recognizable to the industry professionals looking at your resume.
That doesn't mean they have to be famous but that does mean they have to be successful in the acting industry in one way or another. Yes, we do (and you should ) look them up on IMDB if we don't recognize the name.
This could be a great actor, (BOOKED on several SAG projects over the years) casting director (Has BOOKED several SAG projects) Past talent agent or manager or director-(worked on several SAG projects for several years) they need to be current in the industry - meaning they know the current trends in the industry-as far as headshots, self taping, casting sites, appropriate rates, Sag rules, what your demo reel/clips should look like.
Personally I also like to look at the dates of their last projects to make sure they're current with all of the after-COVID changes to auditions in the industry.
THERE IS ZERO reason to learn acting skills from someone who has not been booked often, hired, or worked for other successful industry pro's in the current film/tv acting industry (SAG projects)
Working on independent films (although great experience!) is NOT enough experience to teach others the skills to be a successful actor in the industry. It's fun, but they don't know enough to teach YOU how to be a great actor in today's competetive acting industry.
You need hard facts of their film and television experience (available on IMDB), not what they say they have accomplished inside or outside the industry.
Why would you want to learn how to book film roles from someone who is struggling or aren't capable yet of booking film roles or who has outdated information and auditioning techniques.
