A busy week up here in Montana. A taste of all of the seasons the next few days. 3-6” of snow in Glacier NP then back up to the low 90s this weekend.

A cold front brings valley rain and some mountain snow tonight through Wednesday. Highs drop into the 60s behind the front Wednesday

They have added break dancing to the Olympics, which I tried to watch but just couldn’t get into it, let’s come up with and add our own events…. And go!

Many people don’t think about keeping up on specific certifications while on the road. However, every two years I get recertified in CPR (adult, child, and even pet) and carry a first aid kit with me every trip we go on. You may not ever use these skills or items but the moment you need to, you have them. There are many places that offer CPR certification courses, it may cost you anywhere between $15 to $60 but that’s still much cheaper than having something happen and you feeling the guilt of not being able to step in and assist and knowing you have the ability to make a difference.

We just had a serious thunderstorm just roll through, lasted about 30 minutes. Wind gust was recorded at 109mph. So many down trees, and power lines, now the whole city is without power.

Many of us are enduring an intense heatwave. The coldest day in 2 weeks is 93 with numerous triple digits in sight up here in NW Montana. Stay cool, be mindful of your neighbors, pets, and anyone you know who doesn’t do well with heat.

This was the first year of our annual family camping trip (30 year tradition)where our Uncle Tim wasn’t part of. We know he would have wanted us to continue the family tradition. Although it was a different feeling this year, it was still a blast!

To save weight on the camper (for longer trips) we don’t fill the fresh tank, instead we fill the water bladder and pump it in when we get to our campsite. Our camper only has 650 lbs of cargo weight when the fresh tank isn’t full 🙄. Figured it will be less problematic over time.

What are some RV/Camping superstitions you have or have heard of?

For anyone traveling through Montana. We have been getting thunderstorms that are way more intense than we normally do. 2in hail, winds 60 +, and even tornadoes watches and some tornadoes warnings have been issued.
(Montana doesn’t see tornadoes very often maybe a couple each summer that tear up land - this year we have already surpassed that) keep yours eyes open and safe travels!
