OK MBC folks out there, especially the more seasoned ones, thoughts on the MBC approach to this situation. This is a classic Krav stick defense and the instructor is very well respected and capable, so no Krav bashing :). As an aside, I am personally not thrilled with the control after the redirection, but curious as to the MBC concepts.

No one is invincible nor does anything you train make you so..

On a recent video posted featuring Fred Mastro and his ex*****on of a fast blade. Many have now had to put into question regarding the validity of what they have learned in martial arts and their effectiveness.
" the maestro" would say " Whoever believes that by learning a martial art he will attain invulnerability, should think again. A technique to circumscribe the ego? Just meditate on the former answer"

All I can site are the number of masters and skilled fighters who died in the face of sudden and simple violence.

Train everything, question everything. Test everything within reason to gain knowledge. But guess what...it stil wont guarantee 100% . We can only hope to learn to gain a better % of success though awareness that brings about prevention and a possible reaction should something happen that you played out in your mind and trained for it.

That's it folks. No guarantees. So make sure you are enjoying the art for more than just an increase in possible survival chances.

Big Thanks to Eric Mayes for the recent seminar hosted by Uli Gebhardt. Ok Mr. Steve De Armond goes to MBC camp and besides the way cool swag comes back an affiliate instructor. I predict Orange County is going to become a strong MBC presence. Very cool Steve and awesome work.
