If you had told me 10 years ago (or even 13 months ago) that I would one day work with one of my favorite bands, I would have assumed I either:
a) became famous
b) won the lottery
Alas, neither has happened, but here we are with Fadi sending me pictures of a new The Riverboat Gamblers track, cut by Lucky Lacquer & Digital Mastering recorded and mixed by the Grammy-winning engineer Stuart Sikes at his Paint by Numbers studio in Austin, TX.
Be the first to hear the new track by winning a test pressing at www.wickedopossum.com
Wheatus 7" Test Pressing Giveaway
Eight years ago, I was watching Chris Gethard with my college roommates and a band popped up that I had heard of before, but never thought of as DIY or punk.
Wheatus are indeed both and probably more so than any band I know.
When Matthew Milligan emailed me back exactly one year ago today, we all began a journey that became much bigger than we ever thought it would. Luckily, they were able to record a track between long stints on the road with Everclear, Hoobastank, and Living Colour on the Summerland tour for this project that has been over a year in the making.
Right now, you can go to www.wickedopossum.com to enter to win a test pressing (mfd Cascade Record Pressing, cut by Lucky Lacquer & Digital Mastering) of an unannounced, unreleased Wheatus recording of a song by The Kinks.
On behalf of myself and the bands involved, I would like to state our eternal gratitude towards Dave Davies, Rebecca, and Martin for their unrepayable hospitality, and BMG for their interest in #TheKinksTheCovers.
How lucky I am is not lost on me and I am eternally grateful for people like Static Age, MIKE PARK, the late Dave Jailhouse, and everyone else that has responded to an email from some random kid in Indiana. I can't wait pay it forward to others like they all have.
Very excited to announce the full project next month!
