McHenry County fatal motorcycle crash
The North Dakota Highway Patrol reports a Karlsruhe man died when the motorcycle he was driving collided with a deer, about 10 miles east of Velva. The crash occurred between the overnight hours of July 25 and morning of July 26.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. His name will be released later.
The crash remains under investigation of the Highway Patrol.

Driver injured in crash near Velva
VELVA – A Karlsruhe woman was seriously injured when her vehicle was struck by a semitrailer east of Velva Wednesday.
According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, a 2012 Freightliner driven by Geoffrey Sygay, 39, Fayetteville, Arkansas, was traveling north on 12th Avenue North, about five miles east of Velva, when it failed to yield at the intersection with 44th Street North. The Freightliner struck the side of a 2020 Honda Pilot driven by Kendra Gange, 19, Karlsruhe, which was traveling west on 44th Street North. Gange sustained serious injuries in the crash and was flown to a Minot hospital. Sygay was not injured. Both drivers were wearing their seat belts.
Sygay was cited for failure to yield at an intersection. The crash remains under investigation by the Highway Patrol.

Passenger injured in crash on US Highway 83

A New Town woman was injured in a two vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 83, 11 miles south of Minot Sunday.
According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, the crash involved a 2014 Ford F-150 driven by Tyler Bradshaw, 22, Parshall, and a 2017 GMC Sierra driven by Richard Jackson, 72, New Town.
Both vehicles were driving south in the left lane of Highway 83. Troopers were investigating a property crash that occurred earlier at the same location, and traffic was directed to the left southbound lane. The Ford F-150 slowed but was then struck in the rear by the GMC Sierra which was following behind it.
The GMC Sierra came to rest in the middle of the road and the Ford F-150 came to rest on the median edge of the left lane. June Yellow Lodge, 53, New Town, a passenger in the GMC Sierra was injured and transported to a Minot hospital. There were no other injuries in the crash. Bradshaw was wearing a seat belt. Jackson and a passenger in the GMC Sierra were wearing seat belts. Two other passengers in the GMC Sierra were not wearing seat belts and one passenger was not using child restraints.
The southbound lanes of Highway 83 were shut down for about 30 minutes.
Jackson was cited for distracted driving. The crash remains under investigation by the Highway Patrol.

Occupants involved in motorcycle-minivan crash identified

DEVILS LAKE – The North Dakota Highway Patrol has identified those involved in a motorcycle-minivan crash occurring three miles south of Devils Lake Friday.
Earl Miller, 56, Webster, was driving the Honda GL 1500 motorcycle. He sustained serious life-threatening injuries.
Jeffrey Bridell, 47, driver of a Chrysler Town & Country minivan, and passenger, Rebecca Bridell, 40, both of Pembina, sustained minor injuries. Three juvenile males and a juvenile female also were passengers in the vehicle. They were not injured.
According to the Highway Patrol, Miller was not wearing a helmet. All occupants of the minivan were wearing their seat belts.
The crash occurred on N.D. Highway 20 and Military Road. Miller was taken to a Devils Lake hospital. Jeffrey Bridell and Rebecca Bridell were treated at the scene.

Two injured in ATV crash near Minot

The driver of an all-terrain vehicle has been charged with driving under the influence after his vehicle rolled over as he attempted to avoid a dog Monday about two miles southeast of Minot.
According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, Jeremiah Burner, 43, and passenger MaryAnn Burner, 47, both of Minot, were in a 2003 Suzuki ATV traveling south on 47th Street Southeast after turning left from 34th Avenue Southeast. A dog was running alongside the ATV when it ran in front of the ATV’s path.
Burner steered left to avoid the dog but overcorrected, losing control of the ATV. The ATV rolled and both occupants were ejected onto the pavement. The ATV came to rest in the middle of the road.
Jeremiah Burner sustained serious injuries and MaryAnn Burner sustained minor injuries. They were not wearing helmets. Both were taken to a Minot hospital for treatment.
Jeremiah Burner was charged with DUI. The crash remains under investigation by the Highway Patrol.

Aircraft incident occurs at Williston airport
WILLISTON – One person sustained injuries when a small single engine aircraft experienced problems with its landing gear upon landing at the Williston Basin Airport Sunday.
According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, about 1:28 p.m., the pilot, Douglas Hilderman, and passenger, Charlyn Hilderman, had flown into Williston from Regina, Saskatchewan. Both people exited the aircraft and were evaluated by Williston Ambulance staff. Charlyn Hilderman sustained minor injuries. The primary runway was reopened about 2:30 p.m.
The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board were notified and are investigating the incident.
