Welcome to Magnuson Music Studios! I'm Carrie Magnuson, and I have enjoyed a long, satisfying career as a multi-instrument musician and teacher. Since 1982, I've had the privilege of guiding hundreds of students to musical success. In an atmosphere of productivity and fun, we have accomplished so much together and have celebrated so many triumphs.

I just finished reading Romance on Three Legs: Glenn Gould’s Obsessive Quest for the Perfect Piano by Katie Hafner. He sat on a low chair when he played (a wooden chair that he hauled to concerts) and preferred an ultra light key action. His upper body remained relaxed, and his fingers “floated,” much like my piano professor at St. Olaf College, A. DeWayne Wee. This is an Etude on p. 48 from John Thompson’s Modern Course for the Piano: The Second Grade Book, played on my digital Kawaii set to to the lightest touch.
