World Cancer Day 2024
A day to raise awareness for those who have won their battles, those still fighting and remembering those we’ve lost to such a horrible disease.
2 Million people will be diagnosed with cancer this year alone in the United States. That is nearly 5370 cases each day!
We are grateful for the treatments that have helped my son and my husband, Timothy Anderson-Smitley. I am thankful that he has been cancer free for 25 years and we will keep praying that Liam will continue to have clear scans - this week was his 4th month of clear scans!
My sister has Leukemia and it is something she will deal with for the rest of her life. I had a parent, grandparents, aunts and uncles who fought and lost their battles. This is a disease that I would not want anyone to go through but so many of us are affected.
Before you go to bed tonight, use your time to read about a cancer story, pick an organization to donate to, learn something you didn’t know about cancer, and raise awareness. The cancer community needs you. The families need you. Our babies need you.
A few organizations that we have found do amazing things M Health Fairview Pediatrics - Childhood Cancer Community - The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society - Minnesota, North Dakota & South Dakota - Pinky Swear Foundation - Team NEGU: Never Ever Give Up - Gilda's Club Twin Cities Children's Hospital Los Angeles
