Hey everyone, breaking the year+ silence with news of a brand new, **twenty-song** "Chipbreak Alliance" compilation from Sydney City Chiptune Ministries. This release features several Radiograffiti artists and a few adjacent names you've definitely heard before. Whether you like your lo-fi music sparse and ethereal or dense and intense with like six entire tracks of breaks layered on top of one-another while Famicoms are being flexed in ways never heard before, this is 3,333% for you. For everyone else, you'll get there eventually.
That said, all profits from digital Bandcamp sales of this compilation will go to Beyond Blue, which from what I hear is one of Australia's most trusted mental health organizations, operating for more than 20 years.

Despite the months of planning leading up to last weekend's Antisummer Club release event, there were a few moments directly before the show where I was convinced it just wasn't going to work out. Maybe it was waking up to eight inches of snow, having to scrap the chain link fence idea, realizing the crash course in wireless DMX lighting protocol should have been longer than four hours, or the self-doubt I experienced as I was loading my car with cinder blocks and CRTs ("What the hell am I actually doing?"). Thankfully, that feeling quickly subsided as the night rumbled on.
As I had a chance to talk to all the new faces, there was a sense that something was different about 3.25 in Milwaukee. While I couldn't place it at the time, I've now had a full week to process my thoughts, read various forms of international support (thanks k-pop netizens!), and view related show a/v. Looking back, I am astounded that the night not only happened, but that it also *WORKED*. Sure there was the confused guy who tried giving me his expensive wrist watch after handing him an NFC card, but the amount of smiles I saw on broken individuals as we were all wrapping up tells me I'm doing something very VERY right.
I'll likely never be able to properly articulate how thankful I am to everyone who helped make the night the best it could be, but I can start by giving a huge shoutout to THE DEMIX, MELT β’ Milwaukee Electronic & Experimental Music, Nullsleep (who also captured the VR/IRL hellscape seen here), WARMCORE, and Speaker Kreatures. If I screwed up a tag, ping me.
To wrap this up, I have even crazier ideas that I absolutely cannot wait to try out. So far, so good. I'm also curious to know if anyone actually used the NFC card. I'll be posting more images and video over the next few weeks.

CD RELEASE EVENT INCOMING
After an extended pause in customs, the .lines.din.sky Wreckage Dispatch cassettes have finally arrived. To make up for the wait, a few last-minute details were finessed and additional items were added to the package to round the release out a bit. Everything looks, sounds, and feels better than originally expected. It is now the perfect companion to the Antisummer Club SPC-700 mini album.

A sincere THANK YOU to each and every one of you who took a chance on this crazy idea. It's extremely validating to see the feedback coming in on ANTISUMMER CLUB SPC-700, *especially* knowing how often things went sideways while working to make this project a reality. While the release itself is finished, the work is never done. To that point, Wreckage Dispatch and the follow up BL CD are being hammered out. After that, there are about seven other releases in the queue.
A quick note about word of mouth - it's the only way RG is still a thing. Seriously. Press will forever continue to ignore it (with a few exceptions, *maybe*), most promoters/fellow labels will continue to ignore it even harder, distributors are completely worthless (sans Toolbox), and the algorithm is basically an impenetrable steel wall, even when paying up. The importance of people directly telling friends about the cool things that interest them cannot be overstated, especially now when it's easier than ever to ignore everything not directly in front of what The Feed presents.
To the detractors (context upon request) - RG doesn't have nearly the same amount of releases as whatever electronic netlabel, and that's okay. This was never about quantity, it's not even about familiarity, and it's certainly not about getting to the top of the garbage pile. This is about moving the needle, preferably in ways that are unique to RG. Besides, what good is art if you're not providing the challenge to those who claim to want it?

For those who missed it - the .lines.din.sky performance on WMSE 91.7 last night was an aggressive mashup of both Antisummer Club SPC-700 and a brand new surprise beat tape drop titled WRECKAGE DISPATCH. The drop happened mid interview, and likely serves as the shortest comeback turnaround on record. Thank you to everyone who tuned in. Archives are available, but will likely be uploaded to various places sooner than later.
As for WRECKAGE DISPATCH, the tape features a bunch of different genres which sound like they came from completely different people: Gabber, EBM, Acid, Soul, OST, Breakcore, Chipmusic, HIP HOP, freestyle, IDM, cheapcore trap, and yes, K-Pop are all represented here. It's meant to sound like a found tape while serving as a glimpse of what's to come throughout 2023 & 2024. The pre-order is now live, and aside from the usual extras (patch, photo card, etc) the physical tape has an additional 15+ minutes not available on the digital version.
Also, a bonus song has been recorded onto tape and cut into one-hundred pieces. Each copy of WRECKAGE DISPATCH will receive one of these pieces. The song will only ever be heard if people can correctly digitize, upload, and string the pieces together in the correct order. Good luck.

"Antisummer Club SPC-700 marks my first creative solo output in over five years, and while it may have taken a substantial amount of time to finally land at this point, all aspects of this release were conceptualized, programmed, designed, and rigorously stress tested within one highly concentrated week in August of 2022. Within that short amount of time, inspiration struck (thanks, Liz!), and the concept of Antisummer Club SPC-700 went from a single, three-minute piece in homage to a bygone summer spent with an obscure piece of β90s tech, to an ambitious crash course in D.I.Y. project management. The result is a fully bespoken, translucent CD mini album featuring recontextualized source audio from the long-forgotten XBAND modem, a fifty-two page companion book, and a full line of additionally customized merchandise unlike anything Iβve attempted as the head operator of an independent record label.
So, where did this unlikely, vital, and dominant influence originate?
4th gen K-pop, of course.
Despite my best intentions of keeping this creative endeavor as simple as possible, the parallels of not being able to communicate through that old β90s tech as a teenager and the current reality of not being able to express my creative gratitude as the result of an English/Korean language barrier became too prevalent to ignore. If the motif of βobscured communicationβ influenced the artwork of Antisummer Club SPC-700 and itβs subliminal visual references, the music and packaging found significance in K-popβs duality of unconventional music production wrapped in an ultramodern presentation. The confluence of XBAND and K-pop ended up making more sense than it had any right to: smashing completely unrelated influences together to create something different is hard coded into the DNA of K-pop itself.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy the audio and visuals of Antisummer Club SPC-700 as much as I do. lt was fun for me to see a release through from abstract concept to a finalized, physical product in sequential order for the very first time. If music is in fact a universal language, perhaps now my excitement is finally loud and clear."
