Peacock wouldn't be able to operate a nonprofit like this in Sierra Leone. For her, the American dream means being able to help survivors of domestic and sexual assault and educating about sickle cell disease.
“Me coming to the United States and having the opportunity to have this business is a whole different kind of feeling," she said. "It is a kind of hope for people living with sickle cell. I’ve done it and you can do it."

This marks the first initiative of its kind available to African immigrants and individuals living with Sickle Cell Disease.
Alaafia's journey to this milestone has been filled with perseverance and dedication. My personal journey was significantly influenced by my mother's unwavering determination and commitment to self-empowerment through education and financial independence.
Additionally, I've been privileged to witness the resilience and strength of many women, not just in media portrayals but in real life.
On this Women's Day, we wish to celebrate the remarkable women who have contributed to Alaafia's success.
We also extend our heartfelt gratitude to our funders, sponsors and partners, whose support has been crucial in our endeavors.
Lastly, we are thankful for the warm welcome and support from the city of Milwaukee and the State of Wisconsin, which have been instrumental in our journey.
