Introducing Rory Modlinski - A Modern-Day Folk Singer and co-owner/booking agent of Astor Street Agency!

Growing up around Milwaukee’s Irish Fest, Rory Modlinski always knew he was destined to be a musician. Blending Appalachian sounds with traditional and contemporary ballads from Ireland and England, Rory has performed across the Midwest and Ireland, bringing his unique fusion to diverse audiences.

In 2016, Rory expanded his presence in the Nashville music scene, building on his debut release Roots (2013). He has since added his original songs to a repertoire steeped in tradition. In 2020, he released Bootleg Series Volume One: Outtakes and Ramblings, a collection of originals. Over the years, Rory has shared the stage with renowned acts like Rory Makem, Emma Langford, We Banjo 3, and The Drowsy Lads. He has also contributed to various recordings, including The Gleasons' Worries at the Gate (2017), and joined Milwaukee’s oldest CeÍlÍ band, Ceol Cairde in 2020.

Rory’s versatility extends to bluegrass, forming Northwoods Bluegrass with his banjo teacher, Bob Daniels, in 2023. Recently, inspired by Milwaukee multi-instrumentalist Randy Gosa, Rory has embraced a 1960s folk revival sound reminiscent of Bob Dylan and Tommy Makem.

When not performing, Rory works behind the scenes in music operations, including roles at Milwaukee Irish Fest, CelticMKE, and engineering for other artists. Additionally, he co-founded the Astor Street Agency with Chicago native Ashling Ivers to promote both his music and the work of others.

Welcome to the Street, Grayson!

Michael Edser, known as Grayson, draws his stage name from the street where he honed his musical talents in Australia. With charisma that effortlessly transitions between stage, music, and film, Grayson captivates audiences with his Americana/Country folk style.

After gaining recognition in Australia, Grayson toured extensively across Europe and the US, signing with Rifle Range Records in 2008 and releasing his debut album, Somewhere in the Night. His singles "Stand Clear" and "Change" climbed the charts in Ireland and Australia, respectively. By 2011, Grayson had relocated to Nashville, Tennessee, solidifying his presence in the American country music scene.

Grayson’s career highlights include collaborations with top artists, sold-out tours, and performances at renowned festivals like the Woodstock Folk Festival. His 2011 documentary, 66 Days on Route 66, chronicled his journey through music and self-discovery.

He has released multiple successful albums, including Little Doors (2013), Broken Hearts & Broken Bones (2015), and Window Dreams (2020). Hit singles like “10-9-8-7” and “Beermuda Triangle” showcased his evolving sound, with consistent chart success in both the US and Australia.

In addition to his own music, Grayson is a sought-after producer and session guitarist, contributing to over 60 projects for artists across genres. His creativity extends to children’s music, with his animated project "Swishy" set to debut in 2023.

In 2023, Grayson was honored as ‘Artist of the Year - Pop’ at the Josie Awards, a prestigious recognition for independent artists. A member of the CMA and ACM, Grayson continues to impact the music industry, blending genre-crossing artistry with a deep respect for country music traditions.

We’re excited to share the latest addition to Astor Street Agency: Ispíní na hÉireann!

During a trip to Slovakia in 2017, Dublin born musicians banjo player Adam J. Holohan and guitar player Tomás Mulligan discovered how much they enjoyed playing music together and decided to start a band. Not long after, while sitting at the bar of the famous Cobblestone Pub in Dublin's Smithfield Square and drinking the strongest ale the Four Provinces Brewery had to offer, inspiration struck and they decided upon a name; Ispíní na hÉireann, and thus the Sausages of Ireland was born.

As years went on the band grew to include cellist Aongus MacAmhlaigh and a saxophone and Uilleann Pipes player Pádraig Óg Mac Aodhagáin to round out the greasy ranks, as well as guest players from all over the island.

Ispíní na hÉiereann’s music is a combination of original songs as well as reimagined covers and tunes, all influenced by the Irish musical tradition. There are layers of subtext and commentary, and a genuine method to all the madness. And as with any great art it is left open to the interpretation of the listener. It is up to the audience to decide whether or not this is all waffle, or if deeper meaning can be found amidst the chaotic noise.

On October 28, 2022, Ispíní na hÉireann proudly debuted their album, “The Hard Working Men”. It is the result of years of effort, frustration, and spontaneous brainfarts, and they hope that somewhere along the way it can make you crack a smile.

In late Autumn 2023 the lads released their EP “Worse Things than Dying”, a compilation of softer and more sentimental songs meant to tug at the heart strings and evoke deeper emotions. Apparently, it worked as their star has been on the rise ever since - opening for such legends at the Drop Kick Murphy’s and The Wolfe Tones.

They are spending the last part of 2024 in studio and planning out a VERY EXCITING 2025… stay tuned!

We are pleased to announce the latest addition to Astor Street Agency: Jessica Rhaye, a celebrated singer/songwriter whose music blends folk roots with cinematic storytelling. With her acclaimed band, The Ramshackle Parade, Jessica creates rich, vibrant musical experiences that explore themes of darkness, hope, and human connection.

With the release of Sunshine Baby, Jessica Rhaye’s second album with The Ramshackle Parade, the New Brunswick-based singer/songwriter expands her reach as a lyricist and vocalist with a set of alternately personal and observational songs that manage to be incredibly intimate and cinematic in scope simultaneously. While Rhaye illuminates the darker corners of her world on some tracks, the album’s lead single and title track makes it clear she’s never lost sight of the possibility for redemption and hope. The result is a beautiful and powerful album – one that telegraphs the joy and depth of connection Jessica Rhaye and The Ramshackle Parade have found in working together in equal measure.

Her songs have twice been a finalist in the Canada Music Week National Song-writing competition as well as a finalist in the folk category of the John Lennon Song-writing Contest.

Jessica’s notable co-writing partners over her career include Ron Sexsmith, Ken Tobias, Steve Poltz, Brent Mason, Royal Wood, and Matt Andersen.

Jessica has graced many prestigious stages including the National Arts Centre, Stan Rogers Folk Festival, Mariposa Folk Festival, Shivering Songs Festival, Canadian Music Café, Hugh's Room, Hotel Café, and Half Moon Putney.

As a visual graphic design artist, Jessica Rhaye has won both the ECMA for graphic artist of the year and Music NB visual artist of the year for her design work for her own music projects and in collaboration for numerous musical artists

Introducing: The Kings of Connaught!
A vibrant traditional Irish folk and ballad group from the west of Ireland has signed with Astor Street Agency.

We are pleased to announce the latest addition to Astor Street Agency: The Kings of Connaught, who create a vibrant musical experience that immerses listeners in the heart of Ireland's green valleys and rich history.

The Kings of Connaught, a three-piece Folk/Ballad/Trad ensemble, have enchanted audiences since their inception in 2012. Initially a six-member group, the trio consisting of Mark Costello (Vocals/Guitar), Liam O’Grady (Vocals/Banjo), and Thomas Ryan (Whistle/Mandolin) draws inspiration from prominent Irish artists like Luke Kelly and The Dubliners.

From humble beginnings performing in schools and local pubs, their distinctive sound has propelled them to larger stages across Europe and, more recently, the US, where they have collaborated with renowned figures such as The Wolfe Tones and Leo Moran (of the Saw Doctors).

Their modern twist on the classic Irish song "The Rocky Road to Dublin" boasts over 11 million listens on YouTube and Spotify, showcasing their significant digital presence.

Today, the band continues to resonate with fans worldwide, fostering a community eager for their melodic storytelling and musical prowess.

We are thrilled to announce Beatallica as the latest addition to Astor Street Agency! This globally touring band is renowned for their unique mash-up of The Beatles and Metallica, making them the world's first live "bash-up" band. With sharp wit and creativity, Beatallica transcends musical boundaries while paying homage to these legendary groups.

Their debut mash-up album, Sgt. Hetfield’s Motorbreath Pub Band, soared to #9 on Billboard’s comedy chart in the US and topped Tower Records in Japan upon its 2007 release. Hits like “Revol-ooh-tion” and “A Garage Dayz Nite” remain fan favorites.

In 2008, they pushed the envelope with All You Need is Blood, a maxi-single in 14 languages, and in 2009 released Masterful Mystery Tour, marked by brilliant tracks like “Here of the Day Tripper” and “Got to Get You Trapped Under Ice.” The hilarious animated video for “Hella Day for Holiday” became a comedic metal classic.

Introducing Steph Geremia! A talented Irish flutist & singer who has signed with Astor Street Agency.

Acclaimed Irish singer and flautist, Steph Geremia mixes powerful instrumentals and songs from the Irish, folk and Americana traditions as featured on her new album, If Tomorrow. Performing internationally for the past 17 years with artists including Eddi Reader, Alan Kelly Gang, The Chieftains on their 2007 tour of America in partnership with all female group Líadan, Lúnasa and Connla, Steph is perhaps best known for her vibrant Irish flute playing as displayed on her sparkling 2018 release Up She Flew: “Exceptional skill and musicality… a masterclass in Irish flute. Folkworld ★★★★ Songlines ★★★★ RnR. July 2023 marked an exciting new chapter with the release of her first solo album fully dedicated to song, produced by renowned Scottish multi-instrumentalist, John McCusker (Mark Knopfler Band) and which received national attention with a Recommends from RTE Radio 1 and Album of the Week by Marty Whelan on RTE Lyric FM.

What sets Steph apart is not only her technical prowess but also her ability to infuse her performances with a unique blend of emotion and innovation. Introducing The Murphy Sisters!
We are so excited to announce our latest addition, a sister trio of talented musicians and songwriters has signed with Astor Street Agency.

Hailing from the West Coast of Ireland, The Murphy Sisters are a dynamic trio of musicians/songwriters with a unique sound that is thrilling audiences around the world. Their songwriting style is rooted in their beginnings in traditional Irish music and has evolved to encompass folk, country and pop influences. Their unique blend of harmonies, lively music and humour, captures the pure essence of their close family bond and brings the audience on an unforgettable musical journey. Songs such as ‘Fallen Leaves’ and ‘Nightmare’ reflect this in a very personal way as the sisters recall life’s hard knocks.

The Murphy Sisters are an extremely hard working band that have travelled far and wide to perform their songs to large audiences such as at the Festival Interceltique du Lorient in 2018/2019 and in Nantes where they headlined the Urban Voices Show. They regularly perform in Dublin and have showcased their talents at the famous Whelans venue and 'The Button Factory. Their music has also been featured on Netflix. The three sisters are currently working on their new EP which they will showcase on a tour of North America next year.

We are so excited to announce our latest addition to our singer-songwriter family at Astor Street Agency!

Marques Morel is an American songwriter/storyteller, midwestern-twanger/folksinger, guitar-thumper/harmonica wailer, street-performer/wandering troubadour, steadfast woodcutter/migrant worker, a father, a son, and a friend to all.

Originally from the Illinois corn country, he has performed just about anywhere that anybody would listen: big city street corners around the world, county fairs, folk festivals, hole in the wall taverns/dive bars/honky tonks, cabin porches, backyard barbeques, listening rooms, theatres large and small, and beside many campfires and woodstoves with and amongst the ghosts of his heroes.

Marques has released four original albums to date: "Live and Raw in Rockford" (2013) and "Searching for America" (2014) were recorded bare bones with passion before his disappearance from from the muse for about 6 years before returning to the studio for "Trail of The Ghost" (2021) and "Wind and Rain" (2022). Morel recorded his yet unreleased “Tales and Telling’s” record at Bomb Shelter studio in Nashville, TN. It was produced by the legendary Andrija Tokic (The Deslondes, Alabama Shakes, Ian Noe, Luke Bell, etc.) and is projected to be released in June of 2024.

Known for his intense and infectious energy on stage and his gritty and honest songwriting and delivery, Marques Morel has been described by his fans as “raw and rustic,” “guts on the floor,” and “wild, dark, fun and unpredictable.” He has been compared to icons such as John Prine, Woody Guthrie, Johnny Cash and Townes Van Zandt. Marques currently plays around 150 shows a year and will be found performing either as a one man show accompanied only by his old guitar, harmonica on the rack, and makeshift kick drum, or with his dynamically spirited band, The Midnight Wind.
