Thank you everyone who braved the rain to join us today. We played a game of “Find the AI” where we had to find the “human” poems out of six selections and discussed where AI maybe helpful or hurtful in the poetic community.

Todd Evans was amazing on the mic, as always… “Try that AI 😂” Make sure to check him out 1st Saturdays at Classics Bookstore in Trenton. (And follow him on fb)

What are your thoughts on AI in creative and professional writing? What is lost or gained?

Discuss below or at Sunday’s Resurgence Workshop!

After long thought and discussion, we have decided to take an extended summer break to reformat Resurgence. We have had requests to include singer/songwriters and comedians to our line up. Should we mix music and poetry? Would comedians lighten some of our heavy poetry? Would you enjoy multiple features (and less workshop)? Would you like more time to read your poetry at the open mic?

As we're on our break, I'd love to hear input from you, the community. You have always been an engaged audience and we value your thoughts and suggestions. Thank you for your continuing support.

Rebecca

Some may remember Anthony when he featured for one of the early gatherings of Resurgence. I’m happy to be working with him on his new book.

We are excited to announce our newest author, Anthony Roberts. His latest book, The Clearing Barrel, will be available spring of 2021.

Anthony Roberts is a poet, educator, and veteran. A graduate of The New School in New York City with a Master of Fine Arts degree, he has taught at Fairleigh Dickinson University and Seton Hall University. His poetry has been published in Southerly Literary Journal, The Other Voices Poetry Anthology, and Vox Poetica among others and has been translated into Persian, Italian, Bengali and Czech. His first book, Pigtown, was published in 2017 by Red Dashboard Publications and was selected by Old Dominion University for inclusion in their writing program.

We may be quiet, but we're still creating. Can't wait to hear your voices and see everyone soon!

We're excited to announce that our newest addition to our library, will be available soon! "As if in a Distant Dream" is a whimsical experiment with haiku that hides deeper meaning within its easy to read form. Perfect for the beach or bedside reading.

As gatherings and businesses slowly begin to open, we’re figuring out logistics and rules for us all to gather safely. Until then, keep writing... I look forward to seeing everyone soon.

06/02/2020

I hope everyone is safe and healthy. Although we haven’t been able to get together, I thank everyone for sharing their thoughts and poetry with me. I know we have a lot to talk about and share, and I look forward to gathering when it’s safe to do so. If you’d like your work shared to this page, please dm me. Until then... 🧡

Hey, online gathering of poets and story tellers!

Enjoy an evening of community-created entertainment in the form of storytelling and poetic open mic!
Following the success of our first event in February, we're bringing Story & Verse online for March.
Interested presenters’ names will be selected at random and will have up to 5 minutes to present their work.
Each month, we’ll be inviting inspiration from a well-known song title. Artists are invited to interpret the theme as broadly as they wish. Performers should present their own work, inspired by this month’s theme: GET ON UP.

Prompt writing for extended open mic “Beware of the Ides of March”. Bring your best original poem... there may be a prize. 🙂

Resurgence: Poetry on High

With the blessing of Poetry on High, Resurgence, sought to revitalize the poetry community in the Glasstown Arts District. We were welcomed by Bogart’s Bookstore to join them in their new location. On July 17, 2017, we gathered for the first of our monthly events that include a writing workshop, feature author speaker, and open mic.

We offer a monthly workshop that begins at 1pm each event. We offer a variety of themes, public speaking, peer workshop, prompt writing, and other tricks of our trade. Please join us for a relaxed atmosphere that challenges writers from the novice to the advanced.

Our feature author begins at 2pm. Please join us for a special guest who will read from their body of work, and take questions and comments. Since July, we have featured a variety of published authors both locally and from the tri-state area. Each month offers a new author and genre, we have enjoyed, sci-fi, horror, beat poetry, and prose. Our authors graciously donate their time. We encourage shameless-self-promotion and encourage all to patronize the authors, and also Bogart’s Bookstore.

Our poetry open mic starts at 3pm. Everyone is encouraged to take their turn behind the mic and let your voice be heard. Due to time, however, we must request that musicians perform acoustically. Bogart’s Bookstore is a public venue, please be mindful of content when children are present.
