Today's WorldWideWomen featured is International Medical Corps and their work in South Sudan. International Medical Corps (IMC) is a global humanitarian alliance with the mission to save lives and relieve suffering by providing healthcare services and related training.

IMC has been working in South Sudan since the mid-1990s, nearly 20 years before a national referendum in 2011 led the southernmost states of Sudan becoming an independent country later that same year.

Tensions within the new country broke into armed conflict in December 2013, claiming tens of thousands of lives before a fragile peace agreement took hold in the summer of 2015. Hostility continues to simmer, hampering efforts to improve public health standards in a country that has one of the world’s highest infant-mortality rates. The food-security situation remains desperate and the number of people at risk of starvation has increased. Potential for disease is extremely high, with large numbers of displaced people and sharply reduced access to healthcare.

International Medical Corps currently operates in five of the country’s 10 states, providing healthcare, nutrition, mental health and protection services.

Today's WorldWideWomen featured is United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and their work in Sudan.

The conflict in Sudan is devastating for millions of children and families. Children are bearing the biggest brunt of the Sudan crisis. Millions have fled their homes and are displaced in the country and across the borders, enduring months of uncertainty, trauma, and violence. The current situation in Sudan is a deepening children’s crisis, severely putting at risk the future of the country and heavily affecting the wider region.

UNICEF and partners are on the ground delivering lifesaving services and supplies to vulnerable children and families. In 2022, UNICEF celebrated its 70th anniversary in Sudan, having started delivering programmes for children and women in 1952, with a permanent office established in the capital, Khartoum, in 1974.

Today's WorldWideWomen featured is Women's Foreign Policy Group and their support of Iranian women. The Women’s Foreign Policy Group empowers and advances women’s leadership in international affairs through cutting-edge global policy programs featuring prominent women leaders, robust mentoring programs, and premier networking with high-level foreign policy practitioners.

"The Iranian government is currently cutting off access to the internet and major social media platforms such as Instagram, which Iran has done in the past to disperse protests. It is on organizations like us to stay informed on the state of Iranian women and protestors to ensure their fight and voices are heard.

Here are some ways that you can be an advocate for the rights of Iranian women:
- Read and sign the open-support letter from Vital Voices and the artist collective For Freedoms calling for the immediate removal of the Islamic Republic of Iran from the UN Commission on the Status for Women.
- Amplify the voices of Iranian women. Share, post, and engage with online content created by credible Iranian organizations and activists on the ground.
- Middle East Matters is a youth-led organization that publishes informational content about women’s rights. They are currently organizing protests around the world to call for international attention on the protests in Iran. You can participate in demonstrations and protests to demand the international community to take action against the Iranian government.
- Contact your elected representative and demand that they speak out about Iran’s human rights abuses and bring attention to the death of Mahsa Amini."

Today's WorldWideWomen featured is My Stealthy Freedom, a non-profit, non-partisan organization dedicated to challenging the compulsory hijab laws of the Islamic Republic. These laws force all women, from the age of 7 to wear compulsory hijab and treat women as second-class citizens. Women have no choice but to obey these misogynist laws or face as many as 72 lashes, a jail sentence and a fine.

My Stealthy Freedom supports Iranian women’s basic right to choose, to decide for themselves what to wear and how to cover themselves, or what not to wear. It’s about the freedom to choose.

My Stealthy Freedom promotes the cases of women who through acts of civil disobedience fight these discriminatory laws. By sharing and transmitting their stories and struggles to a global audience, it is our hope to gain global support for Iranian women, and men, as they fight gender apartheid, free from religious tyranny.

Today's featured organization is Doctors without Borders, an international, independent medical humanitarian organization providing medical assistance to people affected by conflict, epidemics, disasters, or exclusion from healthcare.

"As full-scale war erupted in Ukraine, Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) scaled up activities to meet the many health needs—supporting health facilities, running mobile clinics, and operating a specially designed medical train. In the early days following the escalation of the war, hospitals were in crucial need of medical supplies. We established supply lines to health facilities and displaced people in Severodonetsk, Luhansk region, Mariupol, Donetsk region, Dnipro, and the capital city of Kyiv for the delivery of drugs, medical materials and other essential items. There are approximately 116 international MSF staff and 685 Ukrainian staff working across Ukraine, with more joining the team every day."

UNICEF's humanitarian work in Ukraine has long focused on meeting critical needs for health care, safe water and nutrition, while also safeguarding children's rights and long term well-being and helping to strengthen critical systems and essential services."

Today's featured organization is United24, the official fundraising platform of Ukraine launched by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

"Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, President Zelenskyy has been asked hundreds of times: 'What can we do to help Ukraine?' that’s exactly why we launched United24. The idea is simple: to unite the world around supporting Ukraine; to protect, save and rebuild. The platform allows one-click donations to Ukraine from anywhere.

No one was ready for a full-scale war in the heart of Europe. Charitable foundations, no matter how well-organized, cannot meet the needs of a country as large as Ukraine. We can, however, do it together."

Today's featured organization is the United Nations Afghanistan. Afghanistan officially joined the United Nations on 19 November 1946 as the Kingdom of Afghanistan. There are currently 24 UN agencies, funds and programmes in the UN Country Team, of which 20 are located in Afghanistan.

"The past several years have been extremely challenging for the people of Afghanistan. Already suffering from decades of conflict and instability, Afghanistan’s human rights, governance, humanitarian, and development situations deteriorated sharply after the Taliban takeover in August 2021. With 24.4 million people in need of humanitarian assistance and more than 9 in 10 living in poverty, the country is in the midst of a crisis on an unprecedented scale.

The United Nations and its partners recognize that humanitarian aid alone will not be enough to sustainably address the large-scale and increasing human suffering of the Afghan people in the medium and long term."
