Milan finishes as the Class 2A state runner-up

Milan's try for a fifth state championship came up short on Saturday as the Bulldogs lost to Marion County 17-7 in the Class 2A state championship.
Milan scored with 3:05 remaining in the first half on a one-yard touchdown run by Jaydon Peete to cut the Marion County lead to 14-7.
The lone score of the second half was a Marion County 27-yard field goal with 6:20 remaining.
But most importantly prayers are up for defensive back Cordarius Johnson, who broke his wrist and is having surgery tonight, and Will Johnson, who dislocated his ankle late in the fourth quarter and was taken to the hospital.
Jaydon Peete rushed for 113 yards and one touchdown on 26 carries.
Terrence Moses had a 44-yard reception.
Dee Kelley led the Bulldogs with seven solo tackles. Terrence Moses had five solo tackles, one tackle for loss and two pass break-ups. Lincoln Reel had two solo tackles (five tackles total) and 0.5 tackles for loss.

At halftime, Milan trails Marion County 14-7 in the Class 2A state championship game.
After an early interception, Marion County scored on a 19-yard run by Samuel Pickett. Pickett also caught a 75-yard touchdown pass from Tilton Pickett on the first play of the second quarter.
Milan defensive back/receiver Cordarius Johnson was hurt in the first quarter. He left the stadium with a splint on his arms.
But with 3:05 before halftime, Jayden Peete scored from one yard out to cut Marion County's lead to 14-7.
Will Johnson is 2-for-4 passing for six yards.
Jaydon Peete has rushed for 81 yards and one touchdown on 16 carries.

Milan High School held a community pep rally and send off this morning for the Bulldog football team as they head to Chattanooga today. Milan will play for the state championship tomorrow at 3pm (Eastern time) against Marion County. Go Bulldogs!

The Milan Bulldogs are getting fired up in a citywide pep rally before they travel to Chattanooga for the class 2A state championship. The Bulldogs will play Marion County tomorrow at 3 PM ET.

Tonight, South Gibson Middle made the short drive to Milan for basketball. The Lady Hornets came away with the win, and the Bulldogs defeated the Hornets. Check out some of the action here.
