Brad Holmes press conference full recap:

Opening Statement - "Obviously fell short of the goals we set out to accomplish this year. It's humbling. But I won't allow it to discredit everything we accomplished this year."

How close is this team to winning a Super Bowl and what steps do the Lions need to take in order to achieve that in 2025? - "I just think we keep building like we've been. Obviously I think we're very close this year. Nothing is going to alter what our approach is."

Is their urgency to make changes after the early exit? - "There's nothing else to do but get back to work."

Super Bowl Window - "I think we've done a good job doing the best we can to avoid windows.... We feel so good about our young core and young nucleolus of players. We feel really good about our quarterback and the way he's playing... I really don't feel walls closing in or windows. We make an effort to avoid those type of things."

Where do the Lions need to improve? - "When we were at full healthy I thought our pass rush was pretty good. I thought the whole defense... We'll always look at all the areas and add competition at all the areas... We try to add the best players that fit, add the best competition."

Taking risks and trading draft picks - "I think we've done that in the past... We're not scared of that. It has to be with the right player. You can't look at it with a transactional mindset.... We've always said we're going to build through the draft."

Depth vs Top Free Agents - "Dan and I are so heavily concentrated on depth. That's why sometimes it's like 'why didn't you sign the most expensive free agent? We're trying to build depth."

Rebuilding staff - "We were lucky to have both those guys (AG and Ben Johnson) this year. I know Dan has been preparing for it. I have full trust in Dan to make sure were going to have the right guys in those spots."

Culture fits with coordinators - "He's going to have to be adaptable. He's going to have to be smart. He's going to have to adjust. Make sure the players are in the best position to succeed.

On Jared Goff playing without Ben Johnson - "I think the guys in his prime. He's gotten better every year. And when I say prime I think just entering it, because he keeps ascending."

Trading for Za'Darius Smith - "That was the most difficult player transaction I've been through.... When we got Za'Darius, he was one of the small handful of guys (pass rushers) that was available.

On the rookie OLineman - "If you watch the film of Gio (Manu) in OTAs and Gio in practice, it's literally night and day." Holmes went on to credit Christian Mahogany for learning so quickly.

On Terrion Arnold - "we knew it would be too big for him psychologically... I think all those snaps that he played with serve him well going forward... Very high expectations for him. We all know how he's wired... all those reps will improve his confidence even more."

Re-signing Zeitler - "A player of that age, you just got to have conversations with him. We had conversations with him on exit day."

Re-signing Davis - "We're aware of guys on expiring contracts who had good contributions on our team that are worthy of getting extensions. No intense actions yet but we're very aware of it and will go through our normal actions."

Prioritizing the Oline - "It's not a specific position... it's got to be the whole unit. That's the engine... That's always at the forefront."

Kerby Joseph extension - "That's on the docket in terms of to be looked at and discussed... He's an All-Pro player. I don't know how you don't make the Pro-Bowl with nine interceptions... He's proven he's a Detroit Lion. He fits. He fits the culture. It's hard to find ball hawk guys that tackle well... We want to keep the good players here."
