Today's pattern is entitled "Cornucopia and Flowers". This 1860s pattern by Louis Gluer of Berlin, was devoid of the pattern number, but, given the oversized blossoms and the foliage colorization, places it in the early 1860s. The design is slightly off square at 207 stitches wide by 194 stitches tall. There are just 35 DMC shades used to complete. Each of the flowers depicted use just 5 shades so they can easily be altered to your color pallet.

The design is two repeats plus a start of the 3rd. These designs were to be used as Bellpulls, Carpet borders or center stripes in chair backs and seats. The Poppy and Scrollwork design shown is 73 stitches wide by 235 stitches tall and uses only 14 DMC shades

Two new patterns have been added to the VictorianCrossStitch.com website
1- Parrot and Roses 2
This pattern comes from a trimmed design but could be attributed to any one of the major design makers from Berlin. Almost square, the pattern is 169 stitches wide by 160 stitches tall and uses 61 DMC shades to complete.

2-This pattern comes from a finished product in my collection. The design is square at 108 stitches wide by 108 stitches tall and is comprised of 32 DMC shades. My design was executed on a black background, which placed it after the death of Prince Albert in 1861.

This last pattern for today is entitled "Medium Wreath of Pansies". This comes from a finished work in my collection. The colors were obtained from the reverse side and it was originally displayed on a milk chocolate background. The design is somewhat square at 123 stitches wide by 121 stitches tall. There are only 22 DMC shades used to complete this design. The center held a single initial, so I am presuming it was completed as a gift.

The next pattern is entitled "English Flower Basket". This pattern by H F Muller of Berlin, was devoid of the pattern number. However based of the colorization and style, I would place it in the 1840s. The pattern is 188 stitches wide by 176 stitches tall. There are just 33 DMC shade used to complete this design.

The next set of pattern is entitled Basket of Roses. This design came from a larger sheet by Hertz and Wegener of Berlin that displays a small wicker basket of Pink Roses and Blue Violets. The design is almost square at 81 stitches wide by 80 stitches tall and there are 28 DMC shades used in the completion of this. There are also three other alternates of this pattern.

The second pattern for today is entitled "HW 11948". This pattern by Hertz and Wegener of Berlin is from late in their career, given the pattern number. It was also after 1861 since it had a black background, in rememberence of the death of Prince Albert. This pattern of Roses and Passion Flowers is predominately square as the design is 110 stitches wide by 111 stitches tall. There are 38 DMC shades used to complete.

The first of today's pattern on the VictorianCrossStitch.com website is entitled Grunthals 1149. his 1850s pattern is by Grunthals of Berlin and it was very popular at the time to show favorite pets in rural settings. Here a pointer is shown on a plot of grass alongside the edge of a lake with a sandy beach nearby. The design is rectangle in shape at 205 stitches wide by 150 stitches tall and is comprised of 31 DMC shades.

Today's pattern is entitled "Finished work wreath. This pattern comes from a finished work and was completed based on the colors on the reverse side, which being shielded from the sun and smoke, was as bright as the day it was completed. The design appears to come from Hertz & Wegener based on other patterns, but based on searches can not be defined as such. The pattern is square at 190 stitches wide by 190 stitches tall and uses just 42 DMC shade to complete.

There is an alternate to this pattern entitled "Finished work wreath alternate:. In this pattern I have changed the trumpet flowers from the original coral shades, to cornflower blue shades.

The last pattern for today is entitled "Grey Parrot". This pattern of a grey parrot is by L W Wittich of Berlin. Sadly the number was trimmed off so it is hard to determine which decade it belongs to. However, given the coloring, I would place this as a cross over pattern, using both the bright colors of the early 1860s and the earth tones of the later part of that decade. The design is 120 stitches wide by 130 stitches tall and is made up of 35 DMC shades to complete.
