The Wesleyan Argus

The Wesleyan Argus Founded in 1868, The Wesleyan Argus is the country's oldest twice weekly college newspaper. Weekly meetings are held in Usdan 108 at 5pm.

The Argus is published twice weekly on Tuesday and Friday during the school year except in exam periods or recesses. If you're interested in joining feel free to stop by! The University does not publish The Argus or influence its content, nor is it responsible for any opinions expressed in The Argus. The Argus welcomes thoughtful debate and critique in its comment sections. The goal is to provide

a civil forum where all voices can be heard and readers can exchange spirited commentary. Accordingly, The Argus reserves the right to moderate and delete comments. Examples of commentary that will not be tolerated include: personal attacks, defamation, hate speech, commercial promotions, and impersonations. The Argus also reserves the right to ban repeat offenders. The Argus welcomes letters to the editors on topics of interest to the Wesleyan community. The deadline for submission is 4:00 PM (Monday, for Tuesday publication, and Thursday, for Friday publication). All submissions must be either emailed to [email protected] or submitted online and should include the author's name and telephone number. Letters to the Editor should be no longer than 750 words. Community announcements should be no longer than 50 words. The Argus reserves the right to edit all submissions for spelling, grammar, and length. The editors may provide titles for any submissions. Due to the volume of mail received, neither publication nor return of submissions are guaranteed. For submissions made via this website, authors will be required to confirm their email address before submissions can be considered for publication. The Argus was named after the hundred-eyed, all-seeing giant from Greek mythology. Argus alumni have gone on to write and to work for the country's top media companies such as The New York Times and ABC News. MAILING ADDRESS:

MEET THE STAFF | Echo Shen ‘24, Head Layout Editor

Hi! I’m a junior double majoring in Theater and East Asian studies. I grew up in Beijing, China. I joined The Argus layout team during my freshman year and continued on it, now working as a head layout editor. Outside The Argus, I do global marketing and am the current curator of CCC (Chinese Culture Club). I’m also working on a poetry anthology that may come out by the end of the year. I love traveling, reading, and going to theater productions in my free time.

MEET THE STAFF | Yun Huynh ‘25, Community Manager

I remembered going through the club fair and signing up for every other organizations to see which one I would like. Argus happened to be one of those. Originally, I wanted to write for the Argus, but my friend Arla was already involved with Layout so I joined her! Later on, I also applied and became a Community Manager in the fall with Sam and Lauren.

Layout was awesome! I loved everyone in Layout and it has been an almost meditative break away from all my classes, tests, and jobs! Becoming a Community Manager has also been so rewarding and I love learning so much about other parts and sections of the Argus.

On campus, I am also a Community Advisor, a TA, and involved with the productions of WesPhoto's semesterly magazine!

The Argus Speaker Series aims to bring established alumni journalists and communications professionals to Wesleyan to give campus-wide lectures on an aspect of the field in which they are well-versed. It is our hope that such a program will engage the Wesleyan community in the importance of journalism and news media as well as educate the community in a large variety of relevant specialized topics.

We are delighted to host our first guest for the Fall 2022 season, Mia Lobel '97! Lobel will share her experiences working in audio journalism, specifically podcasts. Please join us October 28 on Zoom—additional details are on the poster.
