Even Jesus knew the importance of being still and focusing on the Father.

Pastor Hylton emphasized that unity is a critical component of a strong church, explaining that a divided church becomes weakened in multiple ways. He referenced Jesus's words from Mark 3:25, "If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand," to underscore the importance of unity as the "concrete that holds the structure together." He also mentioned Jesus's prayer for unity among believers in John 17:20-23 and Paul's exhortation in Ephesians 4:3 to "make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace."

Drew Crandall presents a short devotional message based on 3 John 1:9, focusing on the negative example of Diotrephes who "loves to be first" and is characterized as a snob who refused to welcome the apostle John.

Pastor Hylton emphasized that there is a misconception among believers that pastors and church leaders should perform all ministry work. He clarified that according to the Apostle Paul, pastors are actually responsible for training and equipping church members to carry out the work of ministry and service. The NIV translation phrases this as "to prepare God's people for works of service so that the body of Christ may be built up."

Drew Crandell begins by quoting Mark 10:43-44, which emphasizes that greatness comes through service and that leaders should be servants to all. He contrasts Jesus' teaching on servant leadership with the dominant leadership style of biblical times, which relied on manipulation, control, and force.

Pastor Paul Hylton identifies six outcomes when a church functions as designed: believers are equipped, ministry is enhanced, the church is edified, new Christians are established, the church becomes effective, and the congregation grows. He emphasizes that spiritual gifts mentioned in Ephesians 4:11 are not toys but tools for ministry work.

Drew Crandall begins by quoting Galatians 5:14-15 about loving one's neighbor and the dangers of Christians devouring one another. He then addresses the concept of competition, defining it as a rivalry between persons or groups that typically results in winners and losers.
