Understanding the Importance of Nonverbal Communication

💡Nonverbal communication is a form of communication that does not involve the use of words or language. It expresses oneself positively or negatively through body language, facial expressions, gestures, and other nonverbal cues.

💡Nonverbal communication plays a vital role in our daily interactions, often conveying messages that words alone cannot express. One example is when a person slacks off during a meeting, which clearly indicates boredom and disinterest.

💡Another example is when a person slouches and avoids eye contact, which can be perceived as disinterested or lacking confidence, while someone who stands tall and maintains eye contact may be seen as confident and engaged.

⭐Understanding nonverbal communication and effectively using nonverbal cues will improve our ability to connect with others, build rapport, and accurately convey our thoughts and emotions.

🌎 In international relations, I worked with foreign diplomats on their social impact projects aimed at the global media. I was honored to have met the Panama, Argentina, Italy, France, Spain, and Portugal Ambassadors.

🎇 I also covered the Canal de Panamá Expansion celebration, a historic moment in the country’s history, and the following day, I attended a welcome reception at Panama’s Presidential Palace.

I covered international media, attending and participating in cultural events and business conferences in Latin America.

🔶 I was immersed in the arts and cultures, participating in Argentine Tango and Spanish Flamenco and attending events such as British Polo, Colombian Folklore, and African Congo.

🌎 My experience working overseas allowed me to meet interesting people, embrace different cultures, learn foreign languages, and begin a journey into international relations.

I wrote, produced, directed, and presented impactful original programs on Amazon Prime in the US and UK markets about business innovation, cultural awareness, and social impact.

You usually hear negative news in the media, and I was determined to showcase a program highlighting a city's positive economic growth.

I wrote the piece in two weeks, produced it in one week, and filmed it in a few days because I knew what to capture and make the best of what I had available.

Thank you to my supporters and viewers who watched the program in the US and UK to learn about the captivating city of Medellin.

Thank you, Columbia University, for the honor to share my memories of working at ABC News, a top media company in New York City and worldwide.

Before I graduated from college, I was grateful to work as a Multimedia Specialist for ABC News. I began working in the production studio from the ground up, and with sheer determination, I quickly learned the ropes of the media industry.

While at ABC News, I worked as an independent producer and on-air contributor for ABC’s digital cable channel, ABC News Now.

My ability to multi-task and communicate effectively earned me a coveted position within the ABC News Division, developing news packages for ABC News programs.

♦️ Traveled by vehicle from Fort Davis in Panama to the northeast United States at a young age. We traveled through five countries and ten states!

♦️ Raised in Monmouth County, NJ, and lived in seven states and four countries.

♦️ Single mother household after divorce to support five children. I learned how to be independent.

♦️ First in the family to attend college and graduate. I left the nest and came back with a college degree!

♦️ Self-supported my college education by working from early mornings to studying through late nights, making it happen!

💪 Through my challenges, I learned early on about hard work, integrity, discipline, and determination.
