A musician since age 11, she played the clarinet throughout middle school, high school, and college. She began writing songs in the 10th grade and performed them at local talent shows. It was then that Kirby realized she possessed a gift to move people through song. Throughout the years, Kirby looked to music and education not only as a means to success but a way to inspire others. r knowledge of music and education and founded the Miami Music Museum, Inc., a non-profit online (virtual) museum in 2010 to preserve Miami’s music history by creating educational displays of musical events and artists that have empowered Miami to become a Mecca of culturally diverse music and to support emerging artists, and encourage others to enter the music profession. After the museum’s incorporation, Kirby received awards for Best R&B Singer in both the 2011 and 2012 Best in Dade Awards held in Miami. In 2014 her Alma Mater, Florida State University, honored Kirby with the Thirty Under 30 Award for alumni who’ve made significant contributions to their professions and communities. Kirby’s first album “Doing The Most” was released on July 31, 2015. The 9-track album was featured by iTunes and Apple Music during the first week of its release and was one of the highest selling independent R&B albums in the South Atlantic Region in 2015. Her song “Sweet Potato Pie,” won her the opportunity of becoming a 2016 Grammy Amplifier Winner. Kirby was recently featured as a performer at the GRAMMY Amplifier + SPIN showcase at SXSW, The GRAMMY Pro Songwriter’s Summit hosted by the San Francisco Chapter of The Recording Academy as well as The Los Angeles GRAMMY Showcase in May 2016.
