Landing the ICON A5 on confined water bodies requires careful planning.
Ensure the water is wide and long enough, free of obstacles, trees or buildings.
Always check wind conditions to optimize real estate.
Approach slowly, with full flaps to reduce landing speed and a steeper descent rate.
Always check the AOA.
Land at around 60 mph.
Perform a smooth flare.
To avoid bouncing, and use water rudder to decelerate quickly. For takeoff, use full power, maintain a level step, and consider wind direction to ensure a safe climb. Situational awareness and readiness for a go-around are key in tight spaces.
