This was from a cool, memorable throwback gig with 4 things I really enjoyed:
1. Got to DJ on Band Breaks
2. Got to listen to great Nightshift band
3. Enjoyed the cool atmosphere and food
4. Watched some competitive NFL games
1. Deejaying with live bands is a rush, and involves slightly to very different approaches as to when DJ is the ONLY entertainment. You really need a TEAM mentality somewhat similar to working with vendors at a catered event, or staff at a bar/club, and complement their sound, as well as transitioning well out of and into their sets. Fond memories for me of my many years experience tag teaming as DJ with live bands at Blue Martini, Cafe Iguana, and many other venues. Absolutely LOVE it !
2. Nightshift is like family. They've been playing together since they were 16, and have this warm, family, cohesive vibe you don't always experience. They welcomed me into this vibe and I really appreciate em having me as part of it. This really contributed to MY vibe which I can in turn project onto the guests. Thanks guys! Oh...and a very cool repertoire!
3. I LOVE Pub 52 and have gone regularly as a guest, but it was my first time there as a DJ. The atmosphere, food, service staff and more are just really a pleasure! Thank you Camila and staff!
4. The very close, competitive NFL games were really entertaining to watch on the nice TVs they have all over this upscale venue, as I listened to the sounds of this talented band.
