“One of the saddest moments in our lives is when the door of our grandparents’ house closes forever. Once that door is closed there will be no more happy afternoons with uncles, cousins, nephews, parents, brothers and sisters. Do you remember this? There was no need to go to the restaurant on Sunday. Were going to grandparents house.
At Christmas grandma used to drill ozone with her fries while grandpa was busy roasting by burning the chimney punctually. The table was very long and was mounted in the bigger room.
Now the house is closed and there is only dust left. A sign that is sold. Nobody wants that house. She is an old one. It's going to be remodeled. It's too expensive. Caxxo do you know how much your grandparents’ house is worth. Grandparents house has no value.
And so the years go by. There are no more gifts to unwrap. Omelette to eat. Vegetables to be cleaned. When our grandparents house closed we found ourselves adults not realizing when we stopped being children. Of course for grandparents we will always be small and defenseless. Always. Grandparents always had their coffee ready. The pasta. The wine. The Candy.
Then it all ends. There are no more songs. You don't make homemade pasta anymore. Grandma won't fry chips anymore and I won't be able to sneak them out of the oven anymore. You left too soon, damn. I wanted to make the salsa again. The Myrtle.
The chit chat. And the liquor to boot. I still wanted to stack wood with you grandpa, actually thanks for teaching me. And thank you for the life lessons. And out on the country. And about the gardening. Now when I pass by I look at that house and it always gets a habit to park. And to throw down the bell. And to hear my grandmother scream that pig Judas is not the way. I'm sorry grandma.

I FOUND A GIFT ON MY DOORSTEP ON CHRISTMAS – AFTER I OPENED IT, MY DAUGHTER ASKED ME, "MAMA, WHY ARE YOU CRYING?"

It was Christmas morning, cold and gray, much like the weight in my chest. My 5-year-old triplets, Anna, Bella, and Cara, sat by our small, second-hand tree. Their faces lit up as they colored in the little coloring books I had managed to afford this year. My heart ached, knowing that was all I could give them.

Their father had left us months ago, starting a new life in Canada. Child support was sporadic, and my savings were almost gone. I kept telling myself we'd be okay, but Christmas felt like a harsh reminder of how much we had lost.

Then the doorbell rang.

"Who could that be?" I muttered, wrapping a shawl around me. There was no one at the door — just a large box, beautifully wrapped in red paper with a green ribbon. My breath caught as I looked around the quiet street.

"Mama! Is it for us?" Anna called out, her sisters close behind.

MY IN-LAWS DEMANDED OUR LUXURY VILLA ON OUR FAMILY HONEYMOON — MY HUSBAND GAVE ME APPROVAL TO PUT THEM IN THEIR PLACE.

Before our honeymoon, my husband, Mark, and I treated both families to a luxurious Bora Bora trip. We booked spacious overwater bungalows for everyone. My parents were so grateful for that! While we took the only available 4,000 sq. ft. villa — a dream place with a sauna, outdoor tub, pool, and ocean slide.

Within 24 hours, chaos erupted.

At dinner, my cousin mentioned our ocean slide. My in-laws overheard, saw pictures of our villa, and lost it.

MIL (gasping): "Wait… THIS is your place?!"

It's been 27 years since I opened my door and found my month-old nephew on the doorstep. I convinced my husband to keep him and raised him like my own son.

I can not shop at Costco anymore :-)))))Yesterday I was at Costco buying a large bag of Purina dog chow for my loyal pet, Necco, the Wonder Dog, which weighs 191 lbs. I was in the check-out line when a woman behind me asked if I had a dog.What did she think I had an elephant?So because I'm retired and have little to do,on impulse I told her that no, I didn't have a dog, I was starting the Purina Diet again.I added that I probably shouldn't, because I ended up in the hospital last time, but that I'd lost 50 pounds before I awakened in an intensive care ward with tubes coming out of most of my orifices and IVs in both arms.I told her that it was essentially a Perfect Diet and that the way that it works is, to load your jacket pockets with Purina Nuggets and simply eat one or two every time you feel hungry.The food is nutritionally complete so it works well and I was going to try it again. (I have to mention here that practically everyone in line was now enthralled with my story.)Horrified, she asked if I ended up in intensive care, because the dog food poisoned me. I told her no, I stopped to P*e on a Fire Hydrant and a car hit me,
I thought the guy behind her was going to have a heart attack he was laughing so hard.
Costco won't let me shop there anymore.Better watch what you ask retired people. They have all the time in the World to think of crazy things to say.Forward this (especially) to all your retired friends...it will be their laugh for the day!
