With a heavy heart your Sheriff is retiring!
After seven wonderful years it’s time to end this thing. Thank you to all of our incredible sponsors for supporting us over these years and to all of you inspirational racers for making the Q&D what it has become!
Hope to see you out there on the trail! I’ll be the one with the Q&D kit on!
Oh, and you can blame it all on all of the Gordon Gekko’s out there!😢
The web is staying up for a while. Please download the routes before it goes.
While you’re riding the storm out the next couple of days in the northeast let’s take a moment to look back at the first seven years of the Q&D.
Think warm my friends.
Registration opens in early April.
Happy Trails!

The MDGG crew is super stoked to check out Joe and Heather’s race in April! Come on out and join us, we hear it’s going to be a good one!
Happy Trails y’all!
Lisbon, Ohio the home of the Coal Country Roubaix and not for the faint of heart. Our Hundo course serves up 13K of climbing, there is a reason why every finisher goes home with a buckle. Finishing in 9hrs or 12, you still covered 100 miles. NO TIME CUT OFF, but we do have to ask you to run lights so we don't have to pull ypu due to safety if you think you will be finishing over 12hrs. You have a aid station at mile 21, 40ish and mile 68. The worst climbing is between mile 60-80 but next year Heather Lawhorn has decided to reverse, so that put the worst in between mile 20-40 . We got good reviews from our friends Garth Prosser and Matt Kretchmar but we have friends like Chris Karpowicz from Funk Bottoms Gravel and Sheriff Dan from Mt.Davis Gravel Grinder coming this year so anxious to hear their thoughts.
But we hope you join us April 26th 2025 here in Columbiana County, Ohio

In the seven years we’ve held the event, we’ve been able to give out over $50,000 in grants!

I normally say "Y'AIN'T IN KANSAS " obviously I ain't in Coal Country right now. I'm here in Borrego Springs, California to race the 6-12-24 Hour World Time Trial Championships to try and break the 24hr Fixed Gear record. I am thankful for the amazing training grounds I have in my hometown of Lisbon, Ohio and Columbiana County, Ohio . To help us please vote yes to the Levy for the Columbiana County Park District . If you want to follow along with my attempt here is the link ( https://my.raceresult.com/282273/results?fbclid=IwY2xjawGSALVleHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHe23I9efywiJB_Y71Dyu8KWTNH4zlqo10vd3oJ7QiKgKGjmsqFCwKBf1Tg_aem_atT10XDA1xldqKeTWzGI5A ). Also there is at least one more Coal Country Roubaix alumni Paul Wickward here racing today and my man Ryan Collins Ryan Collins Cyclist who might be joining us this April.

Check out our 2025 routes!
3 Courses to pick from next year.
Jumbo, Intermediate, and Short.
The Jumbo route includes the old Red Covered Bridge climb from the early years, + we added Back Road and Conn Road from 2019. You still get the incredible 5 mile descent to Compton’s Mill too.
The Intermediate route is last year’s bailout option. Basically the Jumbo route without the new stuff added.
Mark your calendar!
It’s official the logo has been updated! Thank you Gary Rodosta 🙏

Hey y’all!
I can’t believe it’s been almost three weeks already since Q&D.
If you were one of the Quick please submit your certificate to CFA as soon as you can. Instructions to do so are on the reverse side of your certificate. Collect or donate back.
Doing this allows us to figure out our grand totals and then we can get the MDGG Fund checks out to the VFD’s that supported the race.

As a kid growing up near the little town of Confluence, nestled in the Laurel Highlands of South Western Pennsylvania. I always took advantage of the wonderful outdoor opportunities that the area gave to me. From biking the local roads and rail trail, hiking, hunting, and rafting, I knew that it was a special place.
As an adult, I have stayed local to the area and still enjoy riding my bicycle from my home near Deep Creek Lake Maryland over to Confluence and the surrounding area. A few years ago, my good friend Fritz Kessler and I were out and about on one of these gravel roads near Confluence getting ready for the upcoming Hilly Billy Roubaix. Fritz said to me, “Dan, this route would make a great race”. You know what? I agreed.
As the year went on, I continued to ponder this idea. I continually added more and more each time I went out. Google Map here, Google Map there, and WALA! I finally connected the dots. Okay, now what? We must get them here. How? Hmm! TADA! Facebook Event. Long story short, on an early October morning in 2017, fourteen guinea pigs showed up and the rest was history.
As for the rest of this story. It is still being written. 2018 was the inaugural race with 94 hearty souls racing a race I am sure they will not soon forget. In 2019 we had 163 line up at the start with both course records being smashed! The name you ask? Just thought it made sense for this course. “Fast or not so fast”. The podium you ask? Why not? “You're either on it or in it”!
* A special thank you goes out to my family and especially my wife. Without them and all the wonderful volunteers, this thing would not be possible!
