❄️SNOW IS ON THE WAY🌨

Good Thursday morning everyone! Our next storm system is getting national attention with a large area of 3-8 inches of snow across the upper Midwest today. For us, it won't be quite as impactful, but it will spread snow back into the Region later today into tonight.

Expect snow to move in late this afternoon into the evening with snow showers continuing on and off tonight. We're not looking at a lot of snow tonight, but an inch or two is possible by mid-morning Friday with slick spots for that Friday morning commute.

Throughout the day, the low pressure will rotate through the Region with on and off snow showers with a few bursts of snow possible through the afternoon. By Friday evening into Friday night, a band of lake effect snow looks to develop. This will be our biggest concern locally. We could see some decent snowfall rates within this band and impacts could be felt in Lake County, but especially into Porter and LaPorte County later Friday into Friday night.

We'll need to keep a close eye on where this sets up as localized heavy snowfall rates and increasingly gusty winds could make travel tough for some later Friday! Everything should push out with the return to sunshine this weekend.

Did you know that Octave Chanute, a French-born civil engineer, tested experimental gliders in the Indiana Dunes at the end of the 1890s?

Octave and his team drew quite the spectacle when they arrived in Miller with all of their curious equipment; locals dubbed him the "crazy old man of the sand dunes."

But because of these tests, his further research, and his passion for sharing knowledge for the greater good, Octave is often nicknamed the "Grandfather of Flight." The trials in the Indiana Dunes and countless communications with the Wright Brothers made their success with Kitty Hawk possible. (NPS.gov)

🌨We have a murky start to the workweek but enjoy the mild temps today in the 50s. We'll turn colder each day this week with that true winter-time feel returning by the weekend.

We have various snow chances this week as well (none of them look to put down much snow) but snow showers will zip through Wednesday with another system bringing lake snows Friday into the upcoming weekend. We have lots to keep an eye on and we'll keep you updated as we go throughout the week!
