Tigers win at home 45-20
Mercedes came out strong, taking an early lead with a balanced attack of rushing and passing touchdowns. The Tigers' defense held firm despite Sharyland's attempts to rally in the second quarter, allowing only two touchdowns before halftime. Mercedes extended their lead in the second half with an impressive ground game, highlighted by Robert Sanchez's two touchdowns in the fourth quarter. The Tigers’ dominance on both sides of the ball secured their spot in the second round of the Texas high school playoffs.
