Amazing to be in the NYT “What to Watch” newsletter and the NYT “Climate Forward newsletter both in one week – Their reach is incredible.

Adding John Anderson’s great review of WEATHERING THE FUTURE in the Wall Street Journal, ‘Weathering the Future’ Review: Climate Coping on PBS.

“The come-on for “Weathering the Future” is not a regurgitation of observable fact—that there have been, in recent years, more frequent tornadoes, angrier hurricanes, rising waters and persistent droughts. And it is not a lament about what is or isn’t affecting the atmosphere. What this “NOVA” presentation gives us over its concise hour is what people are doing with the climate cards they’ve been dealt. Some of the moves seem obvious, most are very clever, and all mark a return to ancient methods that have suddenly become revolutionary.”

This ‘NOVA’ presentation highlights the recent onslaught of dramatic weather events and the creative ways people are adjusting in response, from ‘no-till’ farming to building oyster-shell barrier reefs.

We're excited to announce that Kikim Media's latest documentary, Secrets In Our DNA, will be nationally broadcast on PBS's NOVA series on Wednesday, January 13 at 9 PM (8c). Our film explores the fascinating world of direct-to-consumer DNA testing. Some 30 million of us—in search of genetic clues to our family relationships, ancestry or health—have swabbed our cheeks or spit in a vial so we can have our DNA tested by companies like 23andMe and Ancestry.

But how well is all this testing backed up by science? What is it in our DNA that the companies actually look at? How do they interpret the data, and how accurate are their results? And with the genetic data of millions of us piling up in computer databases, how worried should we be about our privacy?

In our film you'll meet people whose encounters with DNA testing have changed their lives...pulled them into the investigation of cold case crimes...forced them to confront the risk of life-threatening disease...even called into question their most basic understanding of who they really are. Secrets In Our DNA is a dramatic and thought-provoking hour, and we hope you can watch.

You can follow this link (https://www.pbs.org/tv_schedules/) to check your local PBS station's schedule for more information about broadcast times and reruns. The episode will also be available to stream for free on the NOVA webpage starting on January 13.

After years of anticipation, autonomous vehicles are now being tested on public roads around the world. Dozens of startups have sprung up alongside established auto and tech giants to form what many hope will be a transformative new industry. But as innovators rush to cash in on what they see as the next high-tech pot of gold, some experts warn there are still daunting challenges to overcome—like how to train computers to make life-and-death decisions as well as humans can.

How can we train artificial intelligence to be better than humans at making life-and-death decisions? How do self-driving cars work? How close are we to large-scale deployment of them? Join Kikim Media for a special advance screening of “Look Who’s Driving” Friday, October 18 at the Computer History Museum. Event begins at 6:00 PM, follow this link to register: https://tinyurl.com/CHM-screening. Prior to the screening, a panel of pioneering company leaders and academic experts will discuss the technical issues and some of the potential economic and social implications surrounding autonomous vehicle technology.

If you can’t make the screening, Look Who’s Driving premieres Wednesday, October 23 at 9pm/8c on PBS.
