We're saddened to hear of the passing of the legendary singer, songwriter & musician, Don Nix, on New Year’s Eve.

Don was a wonderful friend for over 50 years. His albums “Living by the Days” and “Alabama State Troupers: Road Show” were down home Southern Roots music classics! Our label, Icehouse Records, was very proud to release Don’s album “Back to the Well” in 1994.

Our condolences to the entire Nix family. 🎵❤️🎵

A legendary force in the Memphis music scene, Don Nix, died at the age of 83.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Singer-songwriter and indie country recording artist Wade Quinton, a newcomer to the country music format but no stranger to the recording and LIVE performance scene, celebrates the release of his debut single, “Don’t Waste Your Time.”* Recently signed as the MVP3 Music Group flagship artist, Quinton introduces a song vital for present day and time. Co-produced by Kent Wells (Dolly Parton/Reba McEntire/Kenny Loggins) and William Blake.

Penned alongside MVP3 Music Group founder and CEO, Marie Pizano, “Don’t Waste Your Time” is a life-affirming song with an uplifting, meaningful message and a storyline that embraces the value of time. The hopeful musical narration reveals mature wisdom and expresses the importance of hard work, self-love, truth, friendships, hope, faith, forgiveness and fun.

“The message to cherish ‘moments in time’ and recognize the luxury and gainful happiness born from the appreciation of little things as important in the big picture,” introduced co-writer, music and film entrepreneur, book author and philanthropist, Marie Pizano.

“As I reflected on my recovery, I thought about all the time I wasted and the challenge of my negative self-image driving my self-destruction,” said the songwriter, Wade Quinton, who reigns from the Tulsa, Oklahoma region. The song is a reflection of my past and speaks volumes of truth of my yesterdays, today, and tomorrow.”

The sweet, sentimental, encouraging tune blossoms with conversational simplistic lyrics and crystal-clear vocals. Quintessential in country production, pedal steel and electric guitar cradle the melody throughout. The track features performances by in-demand, A-list Nashville musicians including Evan Hutchings (REBA/Keith Urban/Luke Bryan/Kelsea Ballerini) on drums, Dane Bryant (Dolly Parton/Clint Black/Olivia Newton-John) on keys, Dave Fowler (Toby Keith/Michah Roberts/Lorrie Morgan) on bass, Scotty Sanders (Charley Pride/Trace Adkins/Randy Houser/Sammy Kershaw) and Jerry McPherson (Faith Hill,/Tim McGraw/Amy Grant/Don Henley) on electric guitar.

The recording, “Don’t Waste Your Time,” is being considered for the “Road To Memphis” International Song contest (https://roadtomemphis.us)-the world's largest music-based mental health project. Attracting more than 33,000 submissions in 2024, the competition is hosted in part by the City of Memphis, Memphis Tourism and Liverpool City Council among other organizations with the mission to embrace music as a powerful medicine to overcome the stigma of mental health. The 2024 winner will be announced in the coming months.

We are excited about a new album by FreeWorld!

BREAKING NEWS: FreeWorld will be releasing our 8th album, "More Love", during our Thanksgiving Weekend Record Release Spectacular this coming Nov. 28 - Dec. 1, 2024, at Lafayette's Music Room, Rum Boogie Cafe, & Blues City Cafe.

"More Love" showcases our band at a creative high point, with a set of new songs that covers the gamut of our musical breadth and originality. Recorded, mixed & co-produced by the ever-amazing Kevin Houston (w/ some essential performances, engineering & co-production supplied by Matt Tutor), and mastered by Brad Blackwood at Euphonic Masters - with the added bonus of an Atmos Surround Sound mix of the song "Rush Hour" (recorded at Ari Morris' studio) available online - the overall audio quality of the album is state-of-the-art, and the broad cross section of musical styles and genres that FreeWorld is famous for playing during our extended live sets on Beale Street - Memphis all blend together effortlessly across the entire album.

In addition, featured cameo appearances from over a dozen special guests and FreeWorld alumni – including THE TENNESSEE MASS CHOIR on the title track – only add to the fullness and richness of the songwriting craft displayed on the album, and further showcase the quality of the musicianship and the deep camaraderie that flourishes within the extended FreeWorld family.

Our new album also includes the audio track from our recent, award-winning music video, "D-Up (Here’s To Diversity)”, which took multiple 1st place awards in
various international film festivals and global music video award contests in
2022, and also features four of the six original FreeWorld band members from 1987 (Ross Rice, Clint Wagner, Willie Waldman, & yours truly) on a Dr. Herman Green composition entitled, "Red Moon".

We are also proud to once again feature an amazing piece of custom art
by Memphis painter/muralist David D. Lynch on the cover of “More Love”.

We love meeting up with our artists and labels at AmericanaFest in Nashville!

Yesterday with Johnny Phillips at the Select-O-Hits stand at the AmericanaFest in Nashville. Besides being the big dog at SOS, Johnny is the nephew of Sam Phillips, founder of Sun Records (Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash). Johnny’s dad was young Jerry Lee’s minder and road manager before deciding on a safer gig- record distribution, which isn’t that safe either, now that I think about it.
